Michael Bolton's Big, Sexy Valentine's Day Special (2017)

Awesome! Amazing! Great! Pitch a tent or get lubed up.

I'm kidding. I haven't watched it. It's only just starting now. Gotta go!

You can't win an argument just by being right!
I think that's a spoof of this

which was a promo for True Blood if I recall.

Michael Bolton posed like that is just wronger than a wrong thing. I never understood the appeal, but to each their own.

The Girl on the Train (2016)

"Gunfight at the OK Corral"...watched yesterday on TCM.

I'll give it 8/10.

Legend in my own mind

Really enjoyed it.
The depiction of the treatment that these ladies (and many others) endured because of the colour of their skin and gender. Obviously I was aware that this was the case before I watched this film, but it once again brought to life how different society was just a short time ago.

I enjoyed the film and was rooting for the main characters throughout.

7/10

The Princess Bride (1987)

The comedy in this film is hit or miss for me, most of the better comedy is towards the back half of the film as well most of the attempts at comedy towards the beginning didn't really hit for me. Its your basic cookie cutter fairy tale story filled with witty moments and some good comedic moments throughout. Nothing special in my opinion. I don't know if I've seen so many fantasy films since this one that have borrowed from this or if my expectations were too high. The acting also started our pretty stale to me but towards the end of the film it got much better.

I'm mostly familiar with Robin Wright from her work in House of Cards as Claire Underwood so seeing her in this role was strange but I bought her to an extent. Also gotta admit never seen Mandy Patinkin in anything outside his 3 season stint on Criminal Minds so I didn't even realize that was him at first playing Inigo Montoya, easily the best character in the film.

This might just do nobody any good.

Well, what do you expect from a Tarantino movie titled "The Hateful Eight"?

I mentioned before how I see this as being reflective of QT himself so I'll go over some stuff I like: Sam Jackson continues to be the Olivier to Quentin's Shakespeare. Russell is endearing as the representation of an often blind white America, Roth, Goggins and Bichir are amusingly over the top, not sure why Madsen's there but, hey, Michael Madsen. Bruce Dern does wonderfully with mostly silent expression (he almost almost makes you feel bad for the guy) and Leigh, my god Leigh. Who did she loose the Oscar to? Telling, huh?

Oh, and poor O.B.

8/10

No, that rating is not me trying to be funny.

This becomes one of my favorite films now!

Incredible!
Tony Leung in this movie it's badass!
It's funny how the remake kills the choices of Andy Lau in the ending!
I prefer this version! But the remake still incredible.

The movie starts with "On the Nature of Daylight",
that beautiful track that plays on a beautiful moment in Shutter Island!
They got my attention with that! My expectations was low but I truly liked!

Not that great...
It's boring some times...

Bone Tomahawk

Waited too long with this. Awesome flick. Really good western, really competent horror. Loved how this movie also went against probably the most common horror trope and played out the horror in broad daylight. Kurt Russell was a bad ass and overall a great cast. What a debut feature from this guy. Excitng characters, well paced story and a grusome last act. I really enjoyed it. I'm unsure whether the slower pace will make it harder for this to work with revisits, but nevertheless, this first watch was a great time.

+
with room for improvement

Taken 3.....I'll give it 3/5. The formula was showing signs of wear.
