Victim of The Night
My favorite films from this decade are far too numerous to mention. I expect I will go to my grave believing that it was the best decade of filmmaking in the US for sure... until it invented the Blockbuster and killed mainstream cinema forever.

May I recommend "Fat City".. The trailer is horrible, but it's in my Top 20. And John Huston directs. Stacy Keach delivers one of the best performances, too.

There were no blockbusters before the 1970s?

Looking forward to more here…I’ve mentioned before on this site that I think the 70s were the best decade for the movies

It's neither American nor the 70s, but Pixote was a movie that took that American New Wave energy and did something in the early 80s with it.

Equal parts grit and poetry. Not an easy watch though.

A system of cells interlinked
Some favorite 70s flicks...

Pixote was discussed here with reviews on the second post of this thread https://www.movieforums.com/communit...d.php?t=57811#

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain
@Sedai what movies are those screenshots from? Jaws #2? Alien#3? no clue about the rest.
Taking a stab at it:

Chinatown (had to cheat a bit on this)
Jaws
Alien
The Conversation
Taxi Driver
The Exorcist
Breaking Away

Never saw Chinatown. I’m going to rectify that. Was the only picture of the bunch I didn’t know.
