I'd say this is in my top 5 Ang Lee movies, but Sense and Sensibility was slightly better because the three acts did a better job of balancing out story, character development and overall consistency.

I think this movie is extremely underappreciated and misunderstood. It's not a gay cowboy movie. It's a classic depiction of love itself, and an absolute artistic triumph..

Its setting , Wyoming,( although as i gather it was actually filmed in Canada ) is spectacular, Ang Lee really brought the realistic portrayal of Annie Proulxs environments to life (the woman has an affinity for rugged forms of living, this couldnt be more true for Brokeback Mountain ).
