When I was actually born, Richard Nixon was President, gas in America averaged 36 cents per gallon, The Beatles had been broken up for only a month, the Concorde made its first supersonic flight, the Apollo 13 mission was successfully brought back to earth, and literally the day before I was born four students were shot dead by National Guardsmen on the campus of Kent State University in Ohio during protests over the expansion of the Vietnam War into neighboring Cambodia.
