I disagree. I think it best represents our cuisine: highly standardized.
I'm currently scoffing down chilli and chips.

Had some frozen chips left over so I threw some of my homemade chilli on them.

Yummy.
I'm hungry.
Don't worry, us Brits have out British cuisine representatives in places like the Chippy and in Greggs.

Fish And Chips with a ton of salt and vinegar for £2.99... or a Greggs sausage roll with a Steak Bake and a bottle of pop for £2.
Or a meat pasty with a triangular packet of sandwiches for £3.

British cuisine at its best.

I would agree that I would define McDonald's as an American place, but I would never brag about it.
We have 5 authentic American places within a 2 mile stretch by me.

They're called McDonald's.
I feel the same way about my local authentic joint, too. Very lucky!
Oh, the reason I feel lucky is because I live in Massachusetts - not really known for its selection of Mex food, to be sure.
I am lucky enough to have a bonafide authentic Mexican place within walking distance of my apartment. It's a family place, the head chef is a grandmother that doesn't speak a bit of English. She makes a hell of a plate of carnitas though, I will tell you! I probably eat there too much...if there is such a concept.
