The Shoutbox
I won't disagree with anything you just said in that shout, including it being pretty much perfect. However, it just didn't jive with me. I can't really explain it. Been awhile since I've seen it, so my opinion could have changed.
I bought 'The Host' as well today, again for two pounds. Went to see it at the cinema, but thought it was average, a bit of a let down. I'm going to give it a second chance later.
Shane isn't my favorite, but I had said quintessential, for which it certainly qualifies.

That said, what didn't you like about Shane? Technically, it's pretty much perfect.
Mul-ti-pass..."
Going back a few shouts: The Wild Bunch is awesome. The same can be said of High Noon. I'm not very fond of Shane, however.
Ciao!
Well hope all you MOFO's have a great night! Talk to you all tomorrow! Bye
Negative, if you are asking about Shane.

Although Clint did an (inferior) remake in the 80s, called Pale Rider, which I don't really care for. Some ham-fisted environmental issues and some questionable changes to the dynamic between the hero and the family that takes him in send Pale Rider into mediocre-ville, for me.

Josey Wales is a Clint film, though. He directed and starred in it.
Are we talking Clint Eastwood ? Love him!
For the quintessential American western though, nothing beats Shane, in my book.

Yes Chris, I know your feelings on the kid.
I watched the hell outta Josey back in the 80s. My mother still has the worn, faded VHS tape at her house. It is one of my favorite Clint features and 'ol Chief Dan George has me laughing every time. His role is more reserved than in Little Big Man, which I also like, but something about Wales just sits so well with me.

Great, great stuff.
