2018 Movie Tournament

I'll try and get watches of both Christmas Evil and Dodsworth in this week so I can vote in those two matches as well, herself is home all week but has a report to finish up so I am hopeful that I'll have both space and time to do so.

The 3 hour version. Been on the fence about whether seeing the 5 hour. Though there are moments where I feel like I had to re-focus, as it were. Never checked out the episode arrangement

See the original, it's better than the remake! (although still not as good as Cloud Atlas...)

I was disappointed in the remake. Not that I usually have high hopes for pointless remakes, but it did have Chiwetel in it.

I'm really struggling to find a matchup where I've seen both films at the moment!

Watched Death and the Maiden. Sorry Cricket, did not care for it. It'll win its match anyway once you vote.

The best thing about it was the faces Weaver made.

Clue (1985) vs The Lives of Others (2006)-Was disappointed in the second but didn't care for Clue at all.

Dodsworth (1936) vs The Piano Teacher (2001)-Both good movies that I watched for this tournament. Close call.

Our Hitler: A Film From Germany (1977) vs Safe (1995)-Haven't seen either.

Don’t Look Now (1973) vs Deep Red-Didn't like Deep Red.

No Country for Old Men vs Christmas Evil (1980)-I liked Christmas Evil a lot but it's outmatched here.

Possession vs MacGruber (2010)-No contest, although MacGruber was amusing.

The Secret in their eyes (2009) vs Cloud Atlas (2012)-I'm not quite interested in Cloud Atlas enough to spend almost 3 hours watching it. I think the first is a masterpiece.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) vs Eureka (2000)-Like the first, haven't seen the second.

Carlos vs Fried Green Tomatoes-Haven't seen either but I think I might like both.

West Side Story (1961) vs The Conversation (1974)-Was very disappointed in The Conversation but I want to try it again. I'll never like WSS.

Mephisto (1981) vs The Colour Purple-Havents seen the first and I like the second a lot.

Death and the Maiden (1994) vs Los Olvidados-Love both.

[REC] vs Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon-I liked [REC] ok and haven't seen the other.

Being John Malkovich vs Mystery Team (2009)-Like the first a lot and haven't seen the other.

Popeye (1980) vs The Mummy (1959)-One I liked and one I didn't. It's been a long time for both.

A Man Called Horse vs The Last Detail (1973))-Love the second and haven't seen the first.

Closing this now since it's the 11th here, i'll get the second set up shortly. Like i said i'm just kicking Our Hitler out as it's 8 hours long and i don't want a film either halting the tournament or winning on one person voting for it. The other ties i'll keep in the first post until the end of the first round or until they are hopefully broken. WIll most likely watch Fried Green Tomatoes soon myself.
