I was expecting such reaction when I mentioned Shutter Island.
Shutter Island > Goodfellas and Ranging Bull
Dude I love me some Shutter Island, and I actually do prefer it to Raging Bull, but can't disagree more with Goodfellas. Plus I see Hugo as his love letter to the movies.
The Departed is one of Scorcese's above average movies. Worse than his best ones, Shutter Island and Taxi Driver, but better than his mediocre ones, such as Hugo.
I pretty much agree with that. I really didn't like Hugo at all, which was surprising considering I've liked every Scorsese film I've seen so far (like being and above)

Goodfellas is, for me, on equal par with Taxi Driver, as his best two films

It's the weakest Leone in my opinion. There's some good parts, but it missed the presence of an actor like Clint, Lee Van Cleef, Charles Bronson or Henry Fonda.

I watched Timecrimes, I'll be doing a more articulate review of it soon, but what I basically ended with was that it was good, but ultimately nothing amazing.

I don't care how you rate Shutter Island, but saying The Departed is above average and Hugo is mediocre? One is a completely hollow remake and one is an explorative period piece about the beginning of cinema. BOLLOCKS
