Shyest movie characters

I was just wondering, who you think is the most shy movie character. I think "ADRIEN!"is the top contender.

I never did like Adrien, but I do agree with you. Definitely one of the shyest characters ever. Except when she screamed "You're doing it!" right before Rocky beat Ivan Drago.

Welcome to the human race...
You consider Harold to be shy?

I guess me being a shy person I just don't see it in him.
I guess I'm thinking of the stuff he does in the first half of the film, by the second half he's definitely changed.

Movie Forums Squirrel Jumper
I believe that Baby-John is the shyest of the Jets in West Side Story, and that Chino is the shy of the Sharks, until the end, when his personality abruptly changes after the Rumble and the killings, especially of Shark gang leader, Bernardo.

Jim from American pie wasn't very smooth with the ladies, or at least as smooth as he was with pastries.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
At the beginning of the movie, in front of women...

Also, Laura Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie (the best photo I can find is from the 1950 version with Jane Wyman).

For some reason I'm also thinking Mike from Swingers.

Maybe not shy per se, but there's no denying just how awkward he is in most of the social situations he's put in.

Shy movie characters...hmm, that's a tough one.

I have to go with Travis Bickle, to be honest. He seemed like such a lonely and outcasted figure. I felt sorry for him all the time. Very arkward around people (initially at least) and just generally isolated.

I thought about Bickle as well, and I wouldn't really categorise him as shy. He puts himself out there several times throughout the film and seems fairly confident towards most of the people he approaches (Betsy, Iris, even minor characters such as the Secret Service agent and the snacks girl at the porno theatre.) The only real problem with him is that he's simply socially inept and his interactions, however confident, still seem very stilted and awkward.

I guess you're right, Iroquois. I was sort of debating whether to include him but he hadnt been mentioned and thought it would make for an interesting discussion.

The vey fact that he is arkward around people suggest he is shy imo. Shyness doesn't just mean not being able to talk to people. It's how you reaction to your surrounds and interactions, which admittedly you suggested.

Touché. I do work off a very narrow definiton of shyness, I suppose. Then again, I guess you could say the same things about Harold (my first answer to the thread).

I agree with the other choices, and would just have to add Carrie White to the mix.
