For me my favorite or best movie of Stephen King's is The Mist.

Cat's Eye, underrated comic-horror classic. Saw it again recently and still love it to bits. All three sections are great fun, but the one with James Woods as a guy who hires a company to help him stop smoking, only to find it's run by the Mob and they will go to ANY lengths to ensure he quits, is just glorious.

I have not seen many of his movies, but my favorites are Shawshank Redemption and Stephen Kings version of the Shining. His version might not be the best by some standards but I liked it.
