Rate The Last Movie You Saw

Toy Story 2 (1999)

Unfair rating, but it reflects what I got out of it. Aimed too much at kids for my liking; I'm sure I would've loved it 35 years ago.

Ouch right in the childhood! Not happy to see that rating from you cricket.

Toy Story 2 is my favourite of the series.

The Pawnbroker (1964)

A normal man? For me, a normal man is one who turns his head to see a beautiful woman's bottom. The point is not just to turn your head. There are five or six reasons. And he is glad to find people who are like him, his equals. That's why he likes crowded beaches, football, the bar downtown...

I know, don't really know how to rate something like this because there's nothing wrong with it.

I think it's a decent film, but nowhere near Pixar's best efforts or even the best of the Toy Story movies. I hope you'll give Toy Story 3 a try. It's my favorite of the trilogy.

I think Toy Story 2 is the best by far of the trilogy, for me. But I wouldn't rate it much higher than cricket did.

I actually found its narrative - which centered on Woody coming to terms with his own mortality and realizing that he will, in fact die some day - to be incredibly adult-focussed. It's basically what happened in Toy Story 3, but for an individual instead of a group.

Winter Calls Thy Name

B

Found this on a best list. Pretty enjoyable, quick-paced whodunit and Dana Andrews is nice to look at.

C-

The plot, characters, Anderson quirk and charm just didn't engage me and it was hard to stay with it at points. Interestingly, because I wasn't very engaged I began to notice how Anderson creates all these framed set pieces, how lavish and detailed they are and how staged his direction is. Watching this movie was like eating an exquisitely detailed cake that just didn't taste all that good. Suppose I can understand the great reviews but I'm surprised there were so many.

Birdman of Alcatraz (1962)

Based on a true story that I at first thought would be uninteresting, the movie turned out to be pretty beautiful, moving, and inspirational.

It's about a dangerous convict, expertly played by Burt Lancaster, who spends most of his life in solitary confinement. One day, he happens upon a young sparrow in desperate need of some care. This begins the inmate's love affair with bird's, and he becomes a world renowned expert on them. What it really does is give him hope and purpose, and that is what the movie is about. It never gets too sentimental, fortunately, because this inmate deserves to be where he is. The supporting cast is also excellent. The movie is long and slow, but very much worth watching.

Love of My Life (USA ~ 2013)
4.5/10

Really low budget film about torture.... barely any blood or torture.... come on .. quit trying to rip off "Saw"!!

Winter Calls Thy Name
Jacob's Ladder (1990)

I think it's difficult to totally pull a movie like this off. It does pretty well; there's some creepy scenes and Tim Robbins is very good in the lead role, but it got to the point where I was waiting for it to end.
I agree it went on too long, but what's memorable for me is it pulled off the "it was just a dream" device without making you feel cheated.

Lust in Hell
(Japan, 2009)

5/10

Horror? really... I would say more "skin flick" than "horror flick' and the sex as overacting... some ok ghost scenes and a good dismembered body scene but thats it! And 5/10 is being a bit generous...

Point Break

Throw reality and any logic out the window.
This is one of those so bad it's good/ guilty pleasure movies. I don't want to waste much time reviewing this. The acting is awful and the plot is ridiculous. Even some of the writing is pretty awful. The only redeeming qualities are that of the action and grit. It's a fun watch, but it sure is stupid.

Kon Tiki (2012) - it was amazed me, i knew the movie from google doodle, when 100 year Thor's birthday. Just amazed

I love Point Break.
Agreed one of my favorite movies in the 90s that is for sure and probably one of the better Keanu Reeves performances. I know a lot of mothers named their son Bodhi after conceiving during this era.

Carnage

A movie should have some entertainment value. I couldn't find any here. Good performances and a decent script. Basically two sets of parents are meeting to discuss a dispute between their sons. Christoph Waltz and Kate Winslet, visit John C Reilly and Jody Foster's apartment. But one of the worst aspects was how they just kept getting drawn back into the apartment. If they wanted to leave they could have so many times. There's nothing really intriguing here, especially as the film progresses to a point where you wonder what they're even rambling about. Would work better as a short play, not a movie.

I'd give her a HA! and a HI-YA! Then I'd kick her.

Snow Cake (2006) (Recommended by Sexy Celebrity)

Snow Cake is a wonderful movie about the friendship between a high-functioning autistic woman and a guilt-stricken man. This movie is a very emotional movie about grief, and how each of them deals with the loss of her daughter, who was a passenger in his car when she was killed in an accident. The cast is excellent, and Sigourney Weaver gives one of her best performances of her career in this movie.

This movie is not for anyone looking for a movie with a lot of action, but if you're in the mood for an emotional, character-driven drama, I highly recommend this movie.
