Most recently, I'd say 12 Years a Slave. It's a pretty stock historical drama that was made to appeal to critics' sensibilities. I found it good, although not great, and not particularly memorable nor enjoyable. I gave it a solid 7/10, far from my favorites of the year.

WARNING: "Chinatown" spoilers below
just watched Chinatown again.. It's a movie you have to watch twice. After you know what her father did, you can watch the movie a second time with more compassion and understanding, why the lies, etc..

The Doors is very overrated... The band is one of the greatest of all-time, but Oliver Stone likes fiction and himself. It's so inaccurate, too sensationalist.

I've never seen Casablanca, but the only film on your list that I would agree is overrated is The English Patient.

Personally I have nothing against the musical genre. I actually love the genre. I just didn't like 42nd Street at all because I thought it was boring and the Broadway Production it was building up to was underwhelming.

All of the movies I put on my list I have only seen once so my opinion on them may change if I watch them again.

I loved 42nd street. Some of the best music numbers I've seen. Busby Berkeley was a genius. Sure the storyline isn't strong but then again most musicals aren't known for their narrative.

I wouldn't say that. Both of our favorites list have Rear Window on it and we both like North by Northwest.

Everyone will someday or other disagree with another on a movie. It has happened since movies were created. It's perfectly normal and if two people do disagree on a movie, it doesn't mean they can't be friends or at least could share the same opinion on something else.

Everyone is welcome to like or not like any movie, novel, music, etc they want to.

My Neighbor Totoro.

I started watching Hayao Miyazaki's movies about two months ago and of the eight I have seen so far, I have either liked or loved all of them so far except for Totoro. I didn't like the characters (including Totoro), and the ending. I see why most people love this movie but I personally didn't find it charming.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

I didn't like the jokes and the main characters weren't that engaging. I saw this along time ago so I don't really remember much about other than the ending, "Who are those guys?" and several scenes here or there that I didn't really like.

Some Like It Hot

I think Marilyn Monroe is a terrible actress and I didn't find the overall film very funny. Special criticism goes to Tony Curtis's terrible Cary Grant impersonation.

Chinatown

I didn't like the mystery and the ending was needlessly confusing.

Dead Poets Society

Hardly remember anything except for Robin Williams was the only good part and the ending was stupid.

I have seen all of the movies on my list only once so if I watch them again, my opinion on them might change but as of today, I just didn't find those movies entertaining.

Thanks. I was planing on to re-watch all of the movies on my list in the near-future because some of them might have been like that. I remember my Grandma telling me when I was younger that when she first saw Forrest Gump (which I still haven't seen), she thought it was stupid but a few years latter, she watched it again and said she ended up loving it.

I agree with My Neighbor Totoro and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Both were solidly alright films, but I don't quite get the fanaticism that they seem to inspire.
