Is it good? Not really. But I felt it suitable to recommend one final film no one actually should want to see. One final movie to ruin one final day and let that be my legacy.
Movies might almost be worth the sacrifice, but I've come to learn these last few years, they sadly come up just a hair short of being the only thing that matters.
I planned to chill out with films after I got to 10,000, but once I got to 10k, I felt like there was nothing else I loved as much as cinema, and that there wasn't much apart from cinema that I could/wanted to do anyway.
Cinema and music are pretty much everything to me now.
I did branch out onto other things a little bit, but only slightly, and only to take a tiny break from cinema once in a while.
Now I'm telling myself that once I get to 20,000 I'll chill, but the truth is, there's nothing apart from film I really could do. My life is pretty much in its end game now. I already have everything the way I want in every single way. I do what I love, and I live the way I love. And I don't really feel like changing any of that.

I don't discourage it if it still works for you.
I chose for a bunch of years during my 20s to forgo everything else and absorb as much music and movies and paintings and books as possible. I barely left my bedroom. And I don't regret a second of it.
But then it stopped working and I had to find alternatives.
Just be aware if alternatives are suddenly needed.
Your eagerness to throw yourself into the centre of all sorts of different filmmaking is the essence of what a place like this is about. Never being discouraged if you think some of it is shit, or simply doesn't speak to you. It's just about the willingness to step into one alien landscape after another. That's all that really matters if your into this game for the same reasons as me. So, keep on truckin'. It's the good road.
Probably one of the best compliments I’ve received here. I shall continue to live up to the standard that Mark F himself set. Watch everything.
Also, I might as well say my goodbyes. I'm not into this anymore. Maybe I'll reach out to a few people to see where they are at. Or maybe not. Who cares.
So I will leave with these parting words: Watch Things. Nothing else matters.
One of the things about being a mod, which is a person who is sort of supposed to be in touch with what's happening on MoFo, is that I feel really bad when I randomly run across stuff like this, which I somehow totally missed.
Man, what a bummer. I sure did/do enjoy reading the stuff Crumbs posts.
Take it easy man, and I hope our paths cross again someday.

crumbs, have you seen Flaming Ears? I watched it last night, and while I can't necessarily say it was good, or even that I understood what was happening in it, I thought its crude but unique stylings might be right up your alley. Anyway, it's leaving Criterion at the end of the moment for anyone who wants to try to catch it.

I haven't heard of it or even noticed it on Criterion, but I'll definitely keep it in mind

Having now watched this, I endorse and second this recommendation. I didn't bother to attempt to follow the plot after... very early*, but I did enjoy it on vibes and what it was putting out there in each moment.
*: My brain was not at its peak state, but I don't think if it was, I'd have had much success.
Crumbs, if you read this….regarding Sean Baker, I seem to remember you being a fan iirc, and if so, how do you feel his early films hold up?
Criterion has Take Out, The Prince of Broadway and Starlet available so I was curious how they compare with his later films before I watch them.

I wasn't even aware of their existence before they popped up on Criterion. The plan is for me to eventually check out, but I just haven't gotten around.
I can only imagine they are worthwhile. After Tangerine, it was proven the guy wasn't going to be held back by technical or budgetary limitations. And Florida Project is still one of the greatest movies, if not the greatest of the last 25 years.

I won’t be surprised if you love his earliest films the most.
