Simply, ratings equals money, the more they make this season loosens the purse strings for next season. Okay there's a reason for a dip in ratings, but money talks
Game of Thrones Season 7
OH F**K!
That is all I have to say about that episode. I am dying for the final episode! I NEED IT TO BE NEXT WEEK NOW!
And I need it to be next year too. Thank God they started the filming for the final season!

...wondering why they didn't all take dragonglass weapons and where the third dragon got to (since I was sure Jon was going to ride away on him).

Sorry. It is a little spoilery. Watch soon, though. LOL
Ice! Ice, baby!
Oh, god, Tormund and The Hound deserve the shipping Jon and Dany get.

Serious talk, the fast travel employed in this episode (something I've been very lenient on so far) was an utter insult to the audience.

I mean, I get wanting to be economic with your limited time span for storytelling but that was just lazy.

WTF was the point of Benjen? Just to get Jon out? If so, why not use that deus ex with Dany. Forget the raven, I would have been fine with that suspension of disbelief.
WARNING: "Stuff" spoilers below
I assumed the point of Benjen was simply to answer the fan question of whatever happened to him. Bingo. Now we know. Still, I think it would have been better to see Jon command that third dragon and let it whisk him away. Oh well.

Anyone else feel like the Jon/Dany romance is only a step above Anakin/Padme due to our pre-existing investment in them as characters. Like, nothing about that has developed realistically, IMO.
Although, sure, i guess if I ever get the slightest chance with either Kit Harrington or Emilia Clarke, I'd lose myself.

Man, now I'm disliking how salty i sound.
Anyways, cool ending (pun intended).
Looks like season 8 will be delayed to 2019...

Looking forward to the season finale, I though ep 6 was decent but not hitting the highs of ep 4, was like an episode of Star Trek where all the red shirts die and the plot armour is too strong with everyone else.
Did everyone else feel there was literally 0% of Jon dying at the end?
The Dragon dying I have long predicted only I thought it would be BOTH the small Dragons, suppose they are leaving 2 for Jon/Dany to ride.
The best parts of the episode were the interactions between characters, Jorah-Jon, Hound-Tormund/Gendry, Dany-Jon on the boat. I took the Dany-Jon scene as something between a marriage proposal and a "I will bend the knee for you". They love eachother and I'm totally shipping it!
Arya vs Sansa seems full retard, where is Bran for all this sibling hostility??
Has Jon caused the invasion of the North with his stupid mission? by way of giving the NK a Dragon? Was this what the NK was waiting for, a dragon? Is he a Greenseer like Joquen Reed.
I'm feeling a pang of disappointment that stuff I wanted to go down this season probably won't;
-Azor Ahai
-Jon's heritage revealed and how Jon/Dany will take it.
-Arya using her mad skillz to terminate someone, instead she went full retard at WF.
Finale predictions;
81 minutes long.
- Has to be some sort of resolution in Winterfell, Arya/LF/Brann/Sansa. Probably LF going to die and they've just created al this stupid tension to make it seem a surprise.
- Invasion of Westeros by the dead, probably the very final scene of this season, using the dragon somehow.
What we know from trailers
WARNING: "preview" spoilers below
Meeting of EVERY character at King's Landing except Sansa, Arya. Brann, LF. Also in the main trailer it shows what looks like Hound fighting in a place looking like KL, so will the meeting take a turn for the worse?

spoilers of course...
Gendry running, sending a raven and Danny getting her dragons beyond the wall all while they sat on that rock was a bit much.
I thought the same guy died four times while watching, red shirts are so expendable.
I called the Ice Dragon bit awhile ago, so glad it came true and now we're going to see some Dragon Duels.
Anyone think Arya is playing Littlefinger? Otherwise that story line seems really forced.

I think compared to some of the other penultimate episodes, this one wasn't as epic, it was good, but they're usually GREAT!
episode 4 is still the best of the season IMO
totally agree with the red shirt opinions
Long live the Hound!

This was one instance in which having fun theorizing between episodes took away from the reveal a bit...
Speaking of which...
WARNING: "Last night's Game of Thrones" spoilers below
My siblings and I talk about the episodes most weeks, and a week or two ago we concluded that the dragons were way too powerful, and one of several things would have to happen to keep any suspense about how things would evolve.
One way is that someone else would find a way to control dragons. There are some nods to this in the books (nothing that's paid off as of yet), but nothing to that effect had been introduced in the show, so I figured, nah.
Another was that someone would simply find a way to kill them. If this were going to happen, it would have when Bronn actually hit one of them earlier. And after all the build up, a giant crossbow doesn't really seem grand enough.
The third was that someone turns a dragon. There've been fun fan theories for awhile about a dragon being encased in the wall, which would be freed when it fell. But that's a little too crazy, too, so most of us concluded the most likely outcome was that the White Walkers kill a dragon and then resurrect it.

That's why they actually introduced the giant crossbow. Before this, it seems like a waste of time: Cersei's got some secret weapon to fight dragons, they actually hit one, and it still doesn't die. I'll betcha actual money that thing's going to be used to hurl a dragonglass spear at FrozoDrago.
