Sci-Fi movie with 'gun' that briefly pauses people

I am guessing this is from the 80's. The scene I can remember the best is where someone is in the bath with the taps running. The guy with the 'stun' gun gets into his house and freezes the occupant while he steals something from the house. When the occupant is unfrozen the bath is overflowing and the clock has jumped.

This used to be shown quite often on British TV in the 80's.

After quick googling I found Looker (1981) directed by Michael Crichton. Could it be that one?

edit: guessing i was a bit late...

afternoon, yes thats the one. Thanks. Fast work, I hadn't been able to turn up anything.

It seems to get mixed reviews.

Just watched the first 30 minutes, it has just the ambiance I remembered. Once I started watching it was very familiar but wouldn't have been able to recall my memory without actually seeing it.

Definitely Looker, with Albert Finney. I used to LOVE that film back when it first hit, but it's a rough watch now. Still, it had some interesting ideas about media at the time.

Marking thread as answered.
