there are only two opinions - yours an incorrect, right?
Absolutely. I don't mind people disagreeing with me... So long as they recognise that they are wrong.

Goodfellas is brilliant and you have it at the same spot I do so, with this choice, at least, you're right.

I have to try IB again; my wife didn't like it so shut it off after 20 minutes.
I tend to think that if you like one Tarantino film, you will pretty much enjoy them all.

I know that you will like my next choice so.. look forward to it.

5.Léon (1994)

Who could have ever thought that a story about a hitman who likes to drink milk,a young ordinary girl who wishes to become a contract killer and a psycho villain who talks about Beethoven can be a good film?

I don't remember what I felt the first time I saw this crime thriller but now it's one of my favorite films ever made.It just really gets you involved in the story and it's interesting to see how it will finish.Despite being violent at times, this film has a lot of emotional scenes,so it's just even better. It also has some really funny sequences (like Mathilda and Leon dressing into famous people,or Stansfield saying that he's calm ).With all that,Léon is full of action, suspense an drama.

Before starting to use Internet,I could have never imagined that many people really like this film because it isn't an ordinary action flick. That just inspires me.

I know I'm in the minority here but I'm not a fan of Leon. I love Gary Oldman like most, but think he overacts in it. I also think the lead actor, and much of the film, is boring. It has it's moments and I don't hate it, but for me it's average.

Curious to see what the other four would be.
now that I think of it,it will be quite an interesting mix.

What about La Femme Nikita? It's the same director and Jean Reno also shows up.I think it was on your list if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, I love La Femme Nikita. I just don't like Jean Reno as a lead, and found the relationship with the girl awkward. And I thought it was mostly boring. Not bad though.

4. Forrest Gump (1994)

"The world will never be the same once you've seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump."

Two,maybe three years ago if anyone would have asked me what I thought is the best film ever made, without any doubts,I would answer "Forrest Gump".

I could chat for hours about this masterpiece and how great it is,I even talked about it during my speaking exam few years ago,so I had to do a lot of research and it just made me to love the film even more.

"Forrest Gump" tells a story about a man with the low IQ.Don't get the wrong idea - it will not be a film about a retarded man and his struggle to blend into society. You don't have to pity the character and, in fact, after the film, you may start pitying yourself as Forrest's life is much better - he sees everything like a 7 year old.Love, friendship, war, meaning of life, politics and other things for Forrest Gump are simple. If he is left by a girl, sure,he is sad, but he can go on with with life.He doesn't take death as hard as normal people do because his "mama" told him that death is a part of life. One critic,I think it might be Roger Ebert stated that Forrest is not dumb - all the people around are way too clever. After seeing the film you may start thinking that this is true.We make everything so complicated,we can not let go of things,we fight and cry instead of just enjoying life.Forrest enjoys and this is what makes this film so magical. It's so pure and innocent.

However,it is not a comedy either.Forrest Gump's childhood friend Jenny is opposite to him as she never gets enough of life, she is seeking experience, adventure.Another character Lieutenant Dan,Forrest's friend, becomes even a bigger cynic after a tragic war accident.Yet,why does he keeps hanging out with Forrest? No,it's not for money. It's because Forrest has hope, which lieutenant has lost long time ago. When Dan visits Forrest after the war,he says that he's here to try out his sea legs. Then Forrest reminds him that Lieutenant doesn't have legs.Normally, that's an insult but it made me think why that is considered to be rude?Because people nowadays tend to think that other people always have bad intentions towards each other. That's not how it should be.

One thing which,in my view, makes this film a masterpiece,is the fact that it is about everything and,in fact, you will get what you want from the film.It talks about happiness, depression, despair, fear, love, friendship, dreams, business, family, war, politics, history, even culture and tradition. It is also so original and unique that I think it certainly can be placed in the same shelf with timeless classics.

Of course, this film isn't historically accurate as Forrest Gump is a fictional character(I wish he wasn't).But notice, how well made are those scenes where Forrest is present in historical moments. Also, notice the optimistic music, the bright colors and the astonishing acting. This drama really takes you away to a better world.

I am really glad that this was one of my first childhood films because it taught me that being clever or all-knowing cynic is a curse and simple,tolerant,open-minded people are those whose lives are most full of joy.As the tagline says, world might change for you when you see it the way Forrest does.

I have to disagree. I loved Django Unchained, but I hated Pulp Fiction

I have to disagree with that statement as well. I loved Django Unchained and Pulp Fiction and liked Reservoir Dogs well enough, but absolutely cannot stand the Kill Bill movies.

For me all Tarantino films I've seen are
to a
. Excluding Four Rooms which is utter crap

HK saying a film is without even seeing it first?

Never...
TBF, I said it's "probably" I didn't say it was.

I predict Honeykid will like Django Unchained and will have to come back and change it.
I hope so. I have no problem admitting it when I get it wrong. Of course, that'd mean I'd have to watch it first.

It's so strange to see that some of you like Pulp Fiction but dislike Reservoir Dogs.Aren't they alike?
However,I think I can understand disliking Kill Bill and IB as they are more "distant" from Pulp Fiction,Reservoir Dogs,Jackie Brown.Haven't seen Django Unchained (considering that QT doesn't make films very often,I want to watch it much later) but seeing how many people like it,I'm becoming a bit skeptical.
Great to see some love for Forrest Gump.
yes,I'm glad to see that some people in this forum like it too!

3. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) rapes a girl but instead of prison he pleads insanity and therefore,he goes to a mental institution.McMurphy thinks that he is very lucky until he meets Nurse Ratched(Louise Fletcher) - a manipulative lady who makes his stay at the institution much more difficult.

I will start by saying that this is the best acting I've seen and I saw this film about 3 years ago.Probably I've seen more than 400 films after it but none of them were better in the acting category. To be honest,I rewatch it basically for the acting and it is not only Jack Nicholson but pretty much all of the cast.Louise Fletcher makes a great female villain,my favorite one.She looks nice at the beginning but you can quickly realize that she basically oppresses her patients and makes them stay as she can easily manipulate their fragile minds or con them. However, she can't "win" Mcmurphy that easily because he is not crazy or weak,he is a rebel.I love seeing how these two bossy minds clash and fight with each other without any guns or even words. You can easily get the atmosphere when they just look at each other.Jack Nicholson was so great in this role, some people say that he wasn't even acting as the character is quite similar to his real self. The supporting cast is awesome, especially the patients but they are quite overshadowed by Fletcher and Nicholson.I think that maybe that was intended since McMurphy anbd Ratched are more important than the patients.

If you watch closely,it's easy to understand that this film is something like an allusion.Mental hospital represents the country/society,Nurse Ratched is the government, and Mcmurphy is the rebel or just the one who don't trust the government.Patients are just the calm, law abiding citizens.Put everything into places and you can easily understand what does this film intends to say.I like that because it makes the movie not only meaningful but also captivating and interesting. The ending is really good.

This film is very well shot, love the dull atmosphere, haunting music, outfits, camera angles.I noticed that this movie looks like a documentary at some points as dialogues and relationships between people are really down-to-Earth.

The only thing which,I think, was unnecessary, was the fishing scene. It doesn't harm but I don't think it makes the film better.

To sump up,this is the best acting I've seen in film and I love how clever it is.I would strongly advice to see it if you haven't.
