Superman: The Man of Steel

In the Beginning...
Well, I for one am tickled at the thought of a Superman reboot. I never thought Superman Returns needed to springboard off the Donner films, and the film suffered somewhat as a result of it. It was definitely Superman, don't get me wrong. But why handcuff yourself to a thirty-year old franchise when you can just start over and tell the story you want to tell?

I Loved Returns, Easily One Of The Best Superhero Movies. Up There With Nolan's Batman's And The X-Men Movies. I Can't Wait For This.

A sequel to 'Returns' would be awesome. The original films will always remain classic. Superman Returns was better than the first one however. I would love a sequel.

Is Kate Bosworth returning as Lois Lane? I hope not. D:

I didn't like Returns. Brandon Routh was a great Clark Kent, though.

Will your system be alright, when you dream of home tonight?
It's been confirmed. Bryan Singer will be directing the film which will hit theaters 2011. It will be a sequel to Superman Returns.

You realize that info is old? The last news that on that IMDB page is from June 2008.

Look at the dats of what I've circled.

Yeah, and look under that where it says Production Notes/Status.

It says Status Updated: 22 October 2008
No, pretty much anyone can update an IMDB page, they have tons of errors, wait for the news, what I circled.

I really hope they take the franchise in a new direction, and Singer's leaving gives me hope.

I'm upset that Singer is leaving. I know I'm in the minority, but for me Superman Returns is the best Superman film and one of my favorite superhero films. It stays truer to the comic than the old Reeves Superman movies did. I'm not sure why everyone hated/hates Superman Returns.

Let the flaming begin.

Returns was almost a direct update of the original Donner film. I really found it to be very out of step with the Superman I grew up with, who is depicted as someone who would leave Earth for FIVE years for a flimsy chance at finding a long dead planet without telling anyone. Then, after returning, becomes a pseudo-stalker who is depressed because his love interest has moved on. Plus, I think if you want to bring Superman into the 21st century you should first introduce new villains.

I disagree completely. A direct update to the Donner film? How so, seeing as how none of the same events take place. I found Singer's more personal look at Supes to be refreshing, and it fits right in after the (real) Donner Cut of Superman II.

Superman Returns
