Hmmm... wonder why Stuart...

Shhhhhh, it's a secret!
Now everyone will find out that I'm not really a Sith Lord, just some pale blue guy from that chilly place on top of England!!!
Is it Darth, the mild mannered Scotsman by day....... could be!

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour?

Does this mean I'll have to change my slogan from : Sir Sean Connery's lovechild
to :
The other McGregor brother, you know the one they keep locked up in the cellar??????
Too many characters, it wouldn't fit.

Sir Sean Connery's love-child
Oh don't be so pedantic, if I want to be that brother they keep in the cellar, then by jimminy I'll be him!!!!
Haven't you seen Braveheart, the first rule about Scotsmen is you never challenge them, the second rule is you never challenge them whilst alcohol is nearby, the third rule is never feed them after midnight or get them wet...... hmm, not so sure about the last one!

Sir Sean Connery's love-child
I was going by one of the pictures you had on myspace... but I haven't been there for ages... anyway, this is the picture that reminded me of you...

This photo by any chance??? ( yep Darth finally worked out how to post images!!! )
[IMG][/IMG]

Lets make it like X Factor, let the people have their say,
Connery or McGregor????
The decision is yours!

can I post it with my kilted hunks in the man thread?
You should! 7thson named some of us in the "Most beautiful, sexy, highly intelligent, young women of the world" thread.

That is the name of that thread, isn't it?!?

To put it simply this is a superior forum. Plus, as you may remember before I basically left I was complaining at length about all the Spam there and after I was told that we not only had to report it ourselves but that a large part of it was intentional, I was fed up.

Anyway, nice to see you again I hope you stick around here.
Hey mate. The spams annoyed u i see.

yeah, i dont mind sticking around but im not feeling very welcome here. Someone accused me of persuading people to leave which i didnt. All i said was "i hope to see u there" and that is NOT persauding anything. Get a feeling im being victimised here.

The Adventure Starts Here!
No victimization meant, fbi, honest. But try to see this one from our perspective: Some folks who frequent a competing movie site with a similar name find their site isn't stable and has crashed for some reason. So they come to one with a similar name and post a thread titled "The site www.movieforums.org is DOWN????" and are upset. And they want what? Answers from those of us on the competing site? Why would we know this information?

And then, a few folks from this crashed site also post in this thread and mention that they hope to see each other back at the competing site soon. Meanwhile, you're all using our bandwidth and forum to chat amongst yourselves about this competing site ... completely ignoring the hospitality that never deleted your thread in the first place.

So, some of us are feeling a bit put-off by refugees coming here and using our space but not really participating, instead discussing when your other site might be back up and ready to re-receive you.

I hope you can understand that it's not the nicest way to introduce yourselves.

FWIW, I didn't realize Powdered Water came from that same site. He's been a delight here, and I think he fits in well because he participates in the whole forum, not just a single thread about a competing forum.

Just so there's no mystery, this "someone" is me, though I don't believe I accused you of trying to persuade others, and I don't see how you're being victimized, either.

Regardless of your intent (which I'm sure was benign), I don't know what else "hope to see you there" implies. You hope the person posts over there, on another site with the exact same purpose as this one. Whether or not people actually go is beside the point.

I don't think this was malicious, or deliberate, or anything like that. But it shouldn't take much empathy to understand why someone who runs a movie website would take a bit of umbrage to people using it to talk about another.

I understand perfectly austruck. I understand how yoda may feel due to the refugees pouring over here.

If others had got PM's telling them the same thing about not polite to persaude otehrs to leave then i would feel better and not victimised.

But i wasnt the one who created the movieforums.org down thread and i had joined this site a long time ago. Look at my join date. I also have posted in other threads too and have created some. Big little movies is one of them.

But anyways, My apologies yoda. I didnt have any intention of persauding anyone to leave. Hope all is cool.

Totally. There aren't any hard feelings on this end. Just wanted to explain my thoughts on the matter. I hope you'll give it another try around here, but if not, I certainly understand.

I actually started the thread

My reasoning was that since MoFo was another movie appreciation and discussion forum that there may have been a cross over of membership and that someone may have known why and for how long the other forum was down.

However the thread soon developed it's own energy and spiraled out into many strange and interesting directions.

It also seemed to become a halfway safe-place where the refugee was slowly integrated into MoFo with much handholding and encouragement for those who were ... ummm ... somewhat shell-shocked over the loss of their erstwhile forum home

I'm just glad that there was enough vallium and experienced loss councelors on-site
