Are post credit scenes entirely related to Fantastic 4 or Avengers: Doomsday too?
Thunderbolts
Will someone that saw it shoot me a pm about what the asterisk in the title meant? I’ll dance at your wedding 🕺

I remember really enjoying Jake Schreier's first two films, Robot & Frank and Paper Towns, and also throughly enjoyed his miniseries Beef.
Based on that alone, I was really looking forward to his big-budget debut, but I have to admit it was much better than I anticipated. It really is the best movie he's directed so far, and among the best films in the genre.
The performances (including those of several Oscar-nominated actors) are all stupendous, but it's true that Florence Hugh really shines especially brightly here.
Try to avoid the spoilers, if you can, and stay put until the very very very end of the end credits because this one has one of the best post-credit scenes of any MCU film.
It will definitely leave you eager to catch up with the next few installments.

>95% positive audience rating, too!!
Why do we focus on the inflated Rotten Tomatoes score which is loaded with shady practices and designed to deceive? We know this stuff isn't accurate yet I see this score thrown at us over and over. Is it because it's designed to make movies look like they had better scores than they got?
But it's nice to see reviews about how the writing isn't a disaster and how everything isn't filmed on a green screen. Only took the MCU about eight movies to realize we don't want rewritten cheap-looking crap.

It seems Marvel has once again completely thrown out the original concept of the comic book and instead made a pretty blatant copy of a different company's concept that was already made into a couple of mostly-failed movies.
The original concept - during a poorly conceived company crossover (designed only to sell more comics rather than to produce great art & stories) the major superheroes of the Marvel universe disappeared creating a vacuum in super-heroic crimefighting. So a group of super villains called the Masters of Evil used an ingenious plan to fill that vacuum by becoming the world's new saviors called The Thunderbolts. Little did the public know that these new "heroes" (now with all new costumes and heroic code names) were actually all old villains. Being trusted by the public & regarded as heroes would ultimately make world domination much quicker & easier.
Great, devious plot that made for some interesting stories, attempted redemptions, and revelations as the public and even new (non-villain) members of the team came closer and closer to discovering the villains' ruse.
But based on the characters chosen for the movie (not a single one of which appeared in the first few years of the original Thunderbolts comic book), it looks like Marvel has dumped the premise entirely and instead is doing another film version of DC's poorly-received Suicide Squad movies.

Posters are now being changed to reveal the big surprise hidden by the movie’s asterisk
The cat is out of the bag!!!!
The cat is out of the bag!!!!
Oh, I thought maybe the surprise was that they were going to have Moonstone / Meteorite (Dr. Karla Sofen) in the movie - probably the most interesting & devious villain posing as a hero, who was a member of most of the Thunderbolts line ups. What made her so interesting & integral to story arcs was the fact that she was the manipulative psychiatrist on the team (who played her teammates and the public like a fiddle)... but alas, apparently not a single reference to the original volume of the original comic is in this new film.
Maybe they should have called it Thuderbolts*
*Not the original Thunderbolts or anything remotely resembling the original concept

Was surprised to see how poorly this did with its box office numbers seeing as it is is getting reviewed pretty well across the board. I am guessing super hero fatigue combined with a film about lesser known characters is to blame?
Our of the last 10 MCU films, only The Marvels had a worse opening weekend. I am expecting a big drop on its second weekend.

See, the MCU from Iron Man up to Endgame, had no agenda, no woke stuff going on, no gender or sexuality swapping etc... they built up a fanbase, and were successful.
Then came that period from around 2020 to 2024 with all the agenda driven stuff that pushed the fanbase out, and in the process didn't garner any new fanbase in return.
So they've simply had flop after flop after flop.
They've got a fanbase that's non-existent, and regardless of how good the newest movie actually is or the glowing reviews it gets (in this case Thunderbolts)... people, the original fanbase that made the MCU successful are jaded, annoyed even, and the MCU brand is tarnished in the eyes and minds of the people that made it a success...
And now they're trying to dig themselves out of a hole right now by delving into desperation by using gimmicks.
They've not naturally moved onto a New Avengers storyline... they've gimmicked their way into a kind of reboot to salvage what they can in desperation of bringing the fanbase back.
And from the numbers that Thunderbolts/New Avengers has gathered over its opening weekend, their gimmicky desperation just isn't working.
They damaged the brand from 2020 to 2024... and I think it may be irreversible.
I mean, bringing Deadpool, Wolverine and the established X-Men into the universe because Deadpool is actually decent, and successful, and the X-Men series has a fanbase... and bringing back RDJ as a different character just smacks of desperate.
"You like RDJ right? RIGHT? Guess what? We threw a bag of cash at him and he's come back! As Doom! Please love us again!"
Thing is, people like RDJ as Iron Man, in a good Iron Man story... sigh.
I hate to use this phrase, but, go woke, go broke.
East Coast Avengers, I guess.
West Coast: Hulk, Ant Man, Wasp, Vision, Hawkeye (Steinfeld), Thor, Captain America, Falcon, and Shang Chi.
