Supposed to be released this year, but I haven't seen a date. Could be a very good film if it's faithful to the books. Dennis Quaid said it was his most challenging role.

Sounds like something Oliver Stone would make

It does, doesn't it? I've really enjoyed all of O. Stone's biographical/documentary style films. Loved JFK and Snowden in particular.

I hope he makes more of them.

I love movies about presidents. W is my favorite.

It's very rare for a great or even good film to be held for years, it's also getting distributed by "Rawhide Studios"

Trouble with a capitial 'T'

Doesn't matter who the president was, I've enjoyed every film I've ever seen about presidents. Lots of good movies about them in the last several decades.

Yeah it's just an inherently interesting position. It's one of the professions with a lot of built-in drama and immediate high stakes, so it's an attractive topic for storytelling. Similar to the reason we have so many shows about doctors, lawyers, and law enforcement.

Agreed and most all of the presidents that I'm familiar with had interesting personalities and events happening while in the white house. I feel sorry for the president who hasn't gotten his biopic yet (probably mostly from the 19th century).

Made up to look like Reagan, Quaid instead resembles one of those puppets from Genesis’s “Land of Confusion” video; the movie does him no favors by showing footage of that video at one point.
By the numbers, but succeeds in its primary objective: to provide fan service for the aging cohort of Reagan partisans, inviting them to enjoy his catchphrases, much the way they might cheer for Rocky or Iron Man.
Regardless of how you feel about Ronald Reagan the president, most will be united in finding this biopic a preachy, plodding, graceless groaner.
It is gravely disappointing that Reagan is roughly on par with Bedtime for Bonzo.
Mannered acting, dismal cinematography, clunky attempts to enhance excitement via gimmicks such as slow motion, and a musical score like a fountain of goo all serve as flashbacks to Reagan-era network schlock.
Wow...well the important thing I was right all along, as I always am. You are welcome MOFO's.

I'm not gonna trust the reviews on this one. This is way too ferocious of a time in terms of political discussion, and countless amounts of bias exist on both sides, partially due to the anonymity of online discussions. I judge any political drama on its own merits. Only when it's blatantly racist like The Birth of a Nation does morality come into question during my rating. it's not enough to say "It's about a conservative so it must support racism" like I've heard some people say about Hillbilly Elegy, which wasn't even a political movie...
