Rate The Last Movie You Saw

St. Vincent got happily caught up in everyone in this movie. VERY enjoyable.

No Room For Comedy (1940) followed Vincent with this delightful lil romantic comedy with Rosalind Russel & Jimmy Stewart. Absolutely loved the dialogue.

Johnny English: Reborn Even with being a huge fan of Atkinson, I was waiting for it to just be over. A few chuckles, but only a few.

Kingsman: The Secret Service +++ Knowing FULL WELL NOT to take it seriously made it very fun to watch. Can't remember who's review hinted at the "church scene" being something to see was VERY CORRECT --- WOW.

Eh, while it was technically impressive I couldn't totally enjoy it because of, you know, the whole brainwashing thing. Probably the most tonally inconsistent moment of a very inconsistent movie.

Jeanne Dielman -
A fascinating film. I get why someone would hate this one, but I felt that it was rather engrossing. It felt like I was watching something I shouldn't be watching. There's no need for the movie to be as long as it is though.

The Drop
James Gandolfini's final film. Starring Tom hardy.
An above average crime drama! This was great, I really enjoy the genre and it had a pit bull too. My only problem is that they called the pit bull a boxer. I don't know why they did that, it was obviously a pit bull.
It builds it builds it builds and it has a great satisfying ending.

Beerfest (2006) - Jay Chandrasekhar

- This movie is awesome. Remind me in every way of me and my friends at party and bar and the fact that I like beer a lot. Characters are awesome, many scenes are sick and soundtracks like ''Have a Drink On Me'' by ACDC are great. Definitely my kind of comedy and one of my favorite of all-time. I now know why it is in the Top 10 of my buddy Cricket. This movie rock. Highly Recommended to everyone.

Given how the film ends up being dedicated to pointing out how Thierry Guetta's attempts to make his own art are either incomprehensible (e.g. his film) or simply mimicking his artist friends are fundamentally flawed exercises that he still manages to turn into a profitable art show, I'd argue that the silliness is kind of the point. It's debatable as to how much of the film is real, anyway.

Cape Fear (1991)
Excellent thriller by Scorsese. It was cool seeing DeNiro play a psychotic serial killer. This was a remake that was well-made and it was neat seeing Mitchum and Peck have cameo supporting roles. I also liked the early-90's vibe of it, I can see why some people may find it a little cheesy but it worked for me. All-in-all I enjoyed it!

It's a Gift (1934)
I recorded this W.C. Fields movie the same day as The Bank Dick but I've just got around to watching this one. This movie is funny and considered by many a classic but I don't know. It is entertaining but the character of Fields' wife almost derails the movie for me. She is so overbearing and nagging all the way through the movie that it really makes it hard to enjoy it. I know that's what the script called for and Fields' granddaughter said on TMC that Kathleen Howard, who plays Fields' wife, was supposedly a very sweet woman and Fields worked with her several times, but, wow, is she a good actress to make me despise her character that much. And the fact that his character did very little to act against her made it worse. I'm not trashing the actress per se, just the character. The movie, in and of itself, was amusing, but not one of his best in my opinion for what that's worth. He prevails in the end, of course, like all of his movies, but man, his character went through hell!

Divorce American Style (1967)
A good comedy with dramatic moments, concerning the title problems. At first, it's just about Dick Van Dyke and Debbie Reynolds and their marital problems, but after about thirty minutes it really picks up and shows other couples and their ways of working through things which are not very good at all. Jason Robards, Jean Simmons, Van Johnson, Joe Flynn (of McHale's Navy fame), Lee Grant, and Tom Bosley (of Happy Days fame) all contribute to the fun, but Bosley's scene where he's picking up his kids from his ex-marriage, and the kids from his ex-wife's first marriage, and several other people are picking up various children of their loins and their ex-wives, etc. etc.is a real winner. It just goes on and on and there's a yard with scores of kids, with Bosley giving voice to who belongs to who. Definitely the funniest scene in the movie. There's romance too, and while not a gut buster, it's worth watching for all the pros doing a good job.

Operation Petticoat (1959)
Cary Grant and Tony Curtis are the stars in this comedy about a rundown submarine at the start of World War II and the problems the men encounter trying to keep her running and safe from the enemy. While not fall-down funny, this is a highly amusing show with the submarine being one of the characters also, making gaseous noises as it trudges along, being painted pink because of the lack of gray paint in port, continuously backfiring from its first engine, leaving a plume of smoke when getting underway. Funniest is Tony Curtis as are the lengths his character will go to in "acquiring" parts and supplies for the sub, plus "acquiring" Army nurses stranded on an island. Grant is fun but he has to be somewhat serious being the Captain of the submarine. Still, he has some good moments with a certain nurse, but I cannot tell more. And anything I've said above doesn't really give away anything...anyway it's the way things are acted out that really bring the funny and I left real particulars out, so have fun!

Just watched the new "rogue cut" of the film. There isn't really that much difference. Though this re-watch has answered a question that's been buzzing around in my head: "Is Days of Future Past better than X2 ", and after this re-watch I can safely say, the answer is yes.

Excellent little comedy horror from New Zealand, best I've seen since Shaun of The Dead .

The most genuine portrayal of childhood you will see on film. The cinematography is superb.
