Conspiracy Theory (1997, Richard Donner)

Gibson is surprisingly first-rate as a paranoiac fixated on the most outlandish and absurd of conspiracy theories. He seems to embody your run-of-the-mill tinfoil hat 'truther' with his sustained tirades and anomalous personality. With that being said, one of his theories turns out to be true, so perhaps he is not so deranged after all. Impressive screen presence aside, I felt rather iffy about its writing, and Donner makes the serious seem risible with his subpar direction. There was a handful of potentially thrilling moments, but they came across as tawdry and cringeworthy. Still, for what its worth, it was fun.

Welcome to the human race...
The Social Network -

I didn't like it when it first came out, but now I find it's not as bad as I remember. I'm contemplating buying a copy of the soundtrack now.

I thought you would have enjoyed this. What didnt you like about it?
I thought I would like it more too. There's nothing wrong with it; I still thought I was going to like it more after about 20 minutes. It just didn't grab me after that, just one of those things I guess.

The Grey (2011)

Liam Neeson, a wolf hunter who helps protect the local oil drillers from attack, and a bunch of other guys who work in the oil business, survive a plane crash in Alaska and end up suffering the cold and harsh weather and altitude sickness... then end up hunted by a pack of wolves.

What's different is that the "creatures" are kept to the darkness, have a genuinely paranormal essence about them built up over time, which adds depth to whether these things are normal wolves or the viewer is looking at these things the way a genuinely stranded person would in that situation... and then they're only revealed at the end and don't disappoint.

Reminded me a bit like Alien but set in cold mountain wilderness rather than cold space wilderness.

Full of atmosphere, and decently written and played characters, feels almost claustrophobic at times and definitely got some scary bits. Also pretty realistic at times too.

A modern Creature Feature.

Well worth a go

Kakarot89: The Infamous Thread Killer
Just drove across town to see The Raid 2. IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME. It had some slow moving bits but all of the action scenes made it totally worth it.

An Average horror movie ... Not very scary but the story is well done a little bit ''F*cked up'' but it's a good little entertaining movie . I'm waiting for the sequels .

7.1/10

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

One of the best Marvel movies so far. Pleasantly surprised as was not a fan of the first Cap movie and have always worried that the Cap would not work properly in the modern day. However the movie felt like a comic book Bourne which is a good thing and actually did a good job with a few little plot twists and and an intriguing villain in the Winter Soldier.
