Most Underrated Actor/Actress?

Tools

Hey Guys!
I have just recently watched "Boyhood" and while admiring Ethan Hawks great performance, i couldn't help but feel that i haven't given him the credit he deserves as an actor! Which got me to thinking who else could be one of those actors that just fly under the radar for most moviegoers, i can think of karl urban, sam rockwell, but i want to know what you think! Can you list some actors or actresses that are under rated and what movie made you notice them?

Thanks Guys so glad to have found this Place!

John Savage instantly comes to mind. In the late 70's-through the 80's, he was a fairly big star, having been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for The Deer Hunter, starring in Richard Donner's Inside Moves (1980)---giving one of my favorite acting performances of all-time in one of my Top-Ten movies, Hair (1978), The Onion Field (1979), Salvador (1986), Do the Right Thing (1989). But then the big roles seem to taper off and he started a long run of so-so parts in movies and TV, although never seeming to run out of work. I've look on IMDB and he has a long list of movies in various stages of production. I hope he has a resurgence someday soon.

This guy...

He almost stole the show from DDL in TWBB and has had terrific performances in quite a few other movies. Can't wait to see what he'll do next.

And Camilla Belle is one of the most underrated actresses out there, do NOT hold 10, 000 BC against her lol She is far more than that. It's kinda weird how her career hasn't panned out into the big leagues, she does have the total package.

Loved savage in The Deer Hunter and Hair.

I think John C. Reilly, likable and versatile

Oh no, no, no, no.... He overacts so bad. Can't stand him. He was particularly awful in 12 Years A Slave.
Could not agree with you more. He was the only part of 12 Years a Slave that was regrettable. He needs to go reference his performance in Little Miss Sunshine for all future roles.

Make a better place
Jim Caviezel I guess

and I couldn't agree more Patrick, Ethan Hawke is really underrated, and one of my favorites

John C Reilly wasn't in Little Miss Sunshine.

Nor was he in 12 Years a Slave. If you follow the thread, Miss Vicky's quote was in reference to Dano. The Dano pic didn't copy in the quote, but I assumed reading the prior posts was all the explanation needed.

Holy cow good picks! Anyone else think Stanley Tucci falls in this category as well?

No way, he doesn't over act, but I do agree he seemed a bit off in 12 years, then again, considering all his previous out standing work, one downside isn't so bad.

Yes! Most definitely, this guy adds a touch of class to just about every role. He is going to appear in a British show called Fortitude so tune in.

"All of"? Consisting of what? I've seen him in three notable performances (Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, 12 Years A Slave) and he failed to impress me in all of them and donwright ticked me off in the last one. (The movies failed to impress me also, but that's a whole other subject.)
