Love those pics of Louise Brooks, most of which I've never seen. She was so stunning.
I agree that Audrey Hepburn was the most beautiful of the 60's. There were so many others that were deadly in their beauty, but Audrey walks onto the scene and I'm just stunned and not in a lustful way. Just in an "I acknowledge you sitting on the throne of beauty and leaving me in a coma" way.

Ginger Rogers is one of my all-time favorites. Check out Bachelor Mother (1939) where she's looking down into a crib at a baby. Rogers has one of the most beautiful expressions on her face in that scene. Here's a little gif from the movie that isn't that scene. :)

Frances Farmer was indeed lovely. It makes her demise sadder when you look at those photos. It's weird because I have become so accustomed to seeing Jessica Lange's face when thinking about Frances Farmer that I've forgotten how pretty real Ms. Farmer was.

I think it is a more of a Hollywood thing. If you grow up in a small town somewhere in rural America or anywhere in the world for that matter, and then are plunged into Hollywood at a young age it might have a jarring effect. As reclusive as she is, there are still interviews with her, she still does some talk shows, goes to some premiers, etc.. At least she did not pull a Garbo and just completely disappeared.

I was thinking today about Helen Mirren in Excalibur. Very sexy in that film.

Michael Gambon plays a horrible gangster so well doesn't he :p:)? I liked him in Open Range as well. I love that film. It reveals in its perverseness, doesn’t it? It was pretty fascinating to watch the last season of Hannibal afterwards, as it owes more to it than any Argento as it is usually associated with. Whole sections are ripped out from it.

Payday, I've long had a thing for Carla Gugino. She's beautiful and so very talented. There have been two series that I loved with her, Threshold (2005-06), which only lasted 13 episodes but was great Sci-Fi that also had Peter Dinklage and Brent Spiner in it. Last year she was in a great Showtime series, Roadies, which was, you guessed it, cancelled. Oh well, there's always the movies...she's coming out supposedly later this year in Gerald's Game, an adaptation of a Stephen King novel that I really liked. I think she'll be perfect in the lead role, spending the entire movie (if it goes by the book) handcuffed to a bed, topless, trying to get loose while thinking she sees some kind of phantom stalking around the house. It's already got my $10.00, or however much it will cost by that time. :)

That photo of Bette was from her early days (early 1930's) at Warner Bros. According to her, she was requested to come out to Hollywood by one of the studios. When her train arrived after traveling across country, there was suppose to be someone from the studio there to greet her. There wasn't. She later found out that the studio man was there at the train station, but didn't see anybody who looked like a potential star so he left.

At Warner Bros they gave her the usually glam treatment, fake eye lashes, bleach blonde hair and lots of make up. She hated that look and after 1934 refused to be made up that way anymore! She was one of the stars who stood up to the studio, and that's probably why she's one of the great actresses of all time. And one of my favorites!

She never considered herself beautiful, and always considered herself an actress and not a star. But still she looks pretty good in these photos:)

BOP, I've only seen Saturday the 14th once and that was a long time ago. But Kari Michaelsen seems to stand out in my memory like yours. Like Suki very much. She has that "looking to the horizon" look that just looks good on certain women, and she's one of them.

I like Cara and Elle both, but Elle definitely wins it for me. She seems very sweet and is very attractive, plus the video that resopamenic posted just validates it. She's as darling as can be in that video.
