Iroquois

You got me there, I just didn't have anything to say immediately.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 02:38 AM
Yesterday was Canada D'eh.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 02:40 AM
What does Canada Day commemorate?

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 02:45 AM
Basically the day we became a country. It was in 1867 so that makes us 142. But those dang Brits still did hold some power over us until 1982, although by then it was just certain formalities. When's Australia Day, or the equivalent?

7thson
07-03-09, 02:49 AM
the canuks above me have me cunfused.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 02:51 AM
That's why Canada exists, to confuse Americans like TPAM.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 02:52 AM
Australia Day is January 26, 1788 - essentially the day that the Brits first properly settled in Australia, using the area that is now known as New South Wales for a penal colony.

In a faintly amusing way, the indigenous population and certain members of the non-indigenous population prefer to call it Invasion Day. Guess why...

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 02:56 AM
Invasion Day, that's awesome. We still have the queen on some of our money.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:00 AM
Same, the Queen's head's on all the coins and if I recall correctly the $5 note.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:01 AM
All of our coins too and the twenty over here.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:03 AM
That makes me wonder - do the French parts of Canada use the same money?

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:08 AM
Yes they do and Canada Day isn't too popular in certain parts of Quebec either. I've been to Montreal before, great city. I'd like to live there for awhile but should probably learn some French.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:09 AM
Doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:11 AM
Great nightlife, culture, and seeing as most speak French you don't have to hear all that annoyingly inane conversation..heh heh.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:14 AM
Technically, you're still hearing it. You just won't understand it because it's in a different language.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:15 AM
Very true. A lot of very nice looking women there too.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:18 AM
Oh, I see how it is now.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:20 AM
You've been to Canada before, right? Where?

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:21 AM
No, I haven't. When I mentioned it before, that was just a possibility - one that seems even more unlikely than it was when I mentioned it.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:24 AM
I remember you saying you might make it out here for sure, but for some reason thought you'd said you'd been here before. If you ever do avoid Toronto, it sucks. Montreal or Vancouver are where it's at. A lot of Aussies in Van actually, I've known quite a few.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:27 AM
I'll take it under consideration. Vancouver forever, Toronto never.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:30 AM
Vancouver has its problems, but its natural beauty more than makes up for it. Mountains and ocean.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:33 AM
Sounds pleasant enough.

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:36 AM
I'm gonna have to bail soon, gotta work tomorrow.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:39 AM
So do I, but tomorrow's a while away for me.

TONGO
07-03-09, 03:40 AM
TPAM should be excited cause after work its the 4th of july weekend.

http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/020717/9214__rs_l.jpg

JOY!

Harry Lime
07-03-09, 03:41 AM
See ya later.

edit: TPAM thinks TPATPAM is American, heh heh.

Iroquois
07-03-09, 03:42 AM
Later, TPAM.

TPATPAM, guess what - we don't get a 4th of July weekend on this continent.

TONGO
07-03-09, 03:52 AM
Later, TPAM.

TPATPAM, guess what - we don't get a 4th of July weekend on this continent.

I apologize to TPAM. Shoulda looked at the region first. Planet Caravan...coulda swore it was near toledo...

Iroquois
07-03-09, 04:02 AM
It certainly isn't in your hemisphere, if that's any help.

n3wt
07-03-09, 08:17 AM

07-03-09, 04:42 PM
tpam, you think u are soooooooo funny!! remind me to laugh later!!

n3wt
07-03-09, 04:46 PM
TPAM has 3 E's in her name.

eMilee
07-03-09, 04:56 PM
tpam has 3 in his name... must be his lucky number

honeykid
07-03-09, 08:42 PM

Classicqueen13
07-04-09, 05:34 PM
the person above me seems confused

Iroquois
07-05-09, 01:17 AM
TPAM hasn't posted much in this thread.

Miss Vicky
07-05-09, 01:31 AM
TPAM has the awesome Steve Buscemi (in a scene from The Big Lebowski) as his/her avatar but does not have The Big Lebowski on their list of favorite movies.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 01:43 AM
While TPAM actually does have The Big Lebowski on her list of favourites, she does not have a matching avatar.

Miss Vicky
07-05-09, 02:19 AM
TPAM is just as unremarkable as everyone else.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 02:22 AM
TPAM has looked at my profile.

Harry Lime
07-05-09, 02:48 AM
Does TPAM think the joker laughs at him?

Iroquois
07-05-09, 02:50 AM
Guess not.

More importantly, do I care?

Harry Lime
07-05-09, 02:54 AM
TPAM, it's only a partial line from a song, thought you knew it. Goo goo g'joob?

Iroquois
07-05-09, 02:55 AM
You may not believe this but I barely even know the song. I'm just quoting the movie.

Harry Lime
07-05-09, 03:02 AM
Is it just me or has their been an influx of really lame new members on the forum lately? It's probably just me but if I had a dollar for every post that I wanted to negative rep simply for its stupidity I'd have a lot of dollars.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 03:06 AM
Name five such members. Post or PM or whatever.

Swan
07-05-09, 03:06 AM
TPAM I've been putting up posters for the past two hours, my legs HURT.

Harry Lime
07-05-09, 03:10 AM
What has TPAM been putting up posters for?

TPATPAM: If you haven't noticed don't worry about it.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 03:12 AM
I've noticed a bit, but yeah.

Harry Lime
07-05-09, 03:15 AM
I'm off to watch Jarmusch's Night on Earth, looks interesting.

Swan
07-05-09, 03:15 AM
Because my walls are empty TPAM.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 03:18 AM
What posters did you get?

Swan
07-05-09, 03:42 AM
I'm just putting up all the ones I already have.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 03:49 AM
Ah, what I should've said was, "What's on the posters?"

Swan
07-05-09, 04:00 AM
There are so many TPAM.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 04:02 AM
Aw, you're no fun.

Swan
07-05-09, 04:08 AM
I have more Simpsons up than anything else, after that more Pink Floyd than anything else, then WALL-E.

Also Hard Day's Night, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Animal House, etc...

Iroquois
07-05-09, 04:09 AM
Not bad choices at all.

Swan
07-05-09, 04:10 AM
Thank you TPAM

Iroquois
07-05-09, 04:11 AM
You're welcome, TPAM.

n3wt
07-05-09, 09:04 AM
TPAM is going to try and feature the same actor in all his avatars this week, good luck mate im looking forward to the changes

TONGO
07-05-09, 09:14 AM
N3wt (the awful Brad Pitt av)

TPAM needs to change his av asap. I googled "pure suckage" and that av came up. No offense, but with an av like that youre looking like one of REMs shiny happy people.

n3wt
07-05-09, 09:17 AM
TPAM obviously has no idea about the movie theme week :nope:

TONGO
07-05-09, 09:21 AM
TPAM is right, and I feel great shame.

n3wt
07-05-09, 09:23 AM
TPAM made me lol with his last post, maybe you should join in sir?

Iroquois
07-05-09, 10:33 AM
TPAM is trying to convince TPATPAM to join in on a club - rather fitting, considering who's in his avatar.

regnif
07-05-09, 10:46 AM
TPAM probably likes the big lebowski...dooooooh :D

Iroquois
07-05-09, 10:50 AM
Gee, what makes you think that may be a possibility?

TONGO
07-05-09, 11:16 AM
So TPAM is this the Boy In Stryped Pajamas Review Club? There seems to be a few.

Iroquois
07-05-09, 11:19 AM
Actually, no, it's not an actual club, I just said that because I thought it sounded better.

But yeah, anyone can join in and make an avatar related to the week's theme.

Classicqueen13

Iroquois
07-05-09, 11:38 AM

I just saw the actor in TPAMs av when I rewatched Seabiscuit again. Great great movie.

Classicqueen13
07-05-09, 11:59 PM
TPAM is an unregistered user and really likes Seabiscuit

Harry Lime
07-06-09, 12:02 AM
TPAM is a registered user and hates Seabiscuit.

I've also noticed she always types in a different font.

Classicqueen13
07-06-09, 12:05 AM
TPAM is quite observant and the person above TPAM hasn't seen Seabiscuit

Iroquois
07-06-09, 12:05 AM
TPAM has only one favourite movie and surprisingly enough it's on my list too.

Classicqueen13
07-06-09, 12:07 AM

TPAM made me smile, no matter how corny that sounds. :)

Harry Lime
07-06-09, 12:16 AM
TPAM isn't up to her usual font trickery.

TheDOMINATOR
07-06-09, 12:43 AM
TPAM does not participate in the theme game.

Harry Lime
07-06-09, 12:48 AM
TPAM participates but needs to change his user title. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of "I'm cooperating here" or whatever the quote is.

TheDOMINATOR
07-06-09, 01:07 AM
TPAM has a very good suggestion there. For some reason, for these themes, I can never seem to pick out a user title until a couple days into the week.

Iroquois
07-06-09, 04:06 AM
TPAM isn't exactly punctual like that.

n3wt
07-06-09, 05:35 AM
TPAM has moved to Ghost City.

Iroquois
07-06-09, 05:39 AM
Correction - Ghost World, man. I don't really care much for cities.

n3wt
07-06-09, 05:47 AM
My bad TPAM whats it like there?

Iroquois
07-06-09, 06:12 AM
Full of alienation and cynicism.

You should probably try and check out the movie of the same name.

n3wt
07-06-09, 06:20 AM
I shall give it a go sir!

Iroquois
07-06-09, 06:33 AM
Good man! Not too sure if it's your kind of film judging from what I know about your tastes, but hey, never hurts to try something different.

n3wt
07-06-09, 06:37 AM
Not atall mate I enjoy most movies and genre's which is a good thing.

Iroquois
07-06-09, 06:46 AM
That's good to hear, although I'm not exactly much of a Ghost World fan myself, to be honest.

n3wt
07-06-09, 06:52 AM
Im going to check out a trailer now and read about it see if I would enjoy it.

Iroquois
07-06-09, 06:54 AM
Yeah.

On the plus side, it stars Steve Buscemi.

n3wt
07-06-09, 07:10 AM

Iroquois
07-06-09, 07:18 AM

07-06-09, 07:21 AM

Harry Lime
07-08-09, 01:07 AM
TPAM thinks it's because I'm boring, if I remember correctly. heh heh. I must agree.

Iroquois
07-08-09, 01:08 AM
To be honest, dude, I can't imagine you changing it now so don't worry about it.

Harry Lime
07-08-09, 01:10 AM
I'm kidding around, not something I worry about, in fact I rarely worry.

Iroquois
07-08-09, 01:11 AM
Good, TPAM.

Harry Lime
07-08-09, 01:14 AM
TPAM changed his location. One could see into that as a statement.

Iroquois
07-08-09, 01:16 AM
Not really, I just liked the sound of it, and considering the use of Buscemi avatars, was rather fitting.

Harry Lime
07-08-09, 01:26 AM
It works. I wonder if some horror fans were upset to find out the movie they rented or went to didn't have any ghosts in it.

Iroquois
07-08-09, 04:55 AM
It's their fault for not seeing the poster.

Besides, ghosts aren't that scary, and Ghost World sounds like some kind of theme park.

Ish1987
07-08-09, 08:49 AM
Ghosts does not exist.. I'd know, I live in a 200 year old house. Renting the first floor of a small mansion. The room next to my bedroom has genuine 18th century furniture and OLD pictures from the land lady's deceased relatives all over the place. Sounds like a perfect ghost room too me, but nah.. Been living here for about a year.

My bedroom looks pretty darn neat tho with a plasma tv and a fireplace ;)

Iroquois
07-09-09, 10:41 AM
I've managed to make double that and I'm not really running out of ideas. There's always something interesting about every TPAM.

e.g. TPAM is using an avatar from a film that isn't in his Top 100.

TheDOMINATOR

That's why, TPAM pays no mind.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 12:36 AM
Does anybody in this thread mind?

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 01:05 AM
I forget what it was that we were supposed to, or not mind.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 01:07 AM
Fair enough, back to business as usual.

TPAM gets a lot of movies out from the library.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 01:14 AM
I tell ya that library rules. There were two Melville films released on Criterion (Le Doulos and Le Deuxieme Souffle - hey, does anyone know why film titles in certain languages are supposed to be lower case except for names and the first letter? It just doesn't feel right to me so I never write it like that) that the library didn't have. So as I was passing through one time I just casually mentioned that they have a great collection but was wondering why they didn't have these two films yet seeing as they were Criterion. The librarian suggested I make a request on paper and give it to her, and what do you know they ordered them in less than a month. Pretty sweet.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 01:17 AM
Sounds pretty good - I don't even get Criterion DVDs here unless I find them badly overpriced in some specialist shop (e.g. AUD$60-$70 for the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Criterion DVD), although I own a couple that I picked up in America.

Also, as for the lack of capital letters - who knows?

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 01:23 AM
I looked into it, our dollars are pretty much the same, 0.94CDN gets me 1.00AUD. That's pretty expensive for a DVD, but even on amazon.ca it sells for about $50.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 01:34 AM
Well, it is a Criterion release. I remember when I picked up a couple in America a couple of years back, they cost me US$60 or something like that. I remember it was a bit of a bargain because at that point the Australian dollar was more or less equal to America's so we got some good deals on stuff.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 01:43 AM
That must have been back when the US dollar tanked, we were even with them too. So which Criterion DVDs do you have?

TheDOMINATOR
07-10-09, 01:43 AM
TPAM and I meet here once again!

Edit: damn.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 01:47 AM
TPAM was too slow.

To answer TPATPAM's question, I own Dazed and Confused and Slacker. Around the time I went over I was getting into Richard Linklater's works and Slacker was at that point unavailable in Australia, so I got it. I got Dazed because it's a fun movie and I wanted to check out the special features.

Back when I had actual DVDs before the "incident" and my vowing never to buy a DVD ever again I had Do the Right Thing, Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Insomnia, The Third Man, Traffic and The Royal Tenenbaums. Now I probably have at least 100, all copies though.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 01:57 AM
"Incident"?

I'm intrigued, TPAM. Do tell.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 01:59 AM
It's the incident that shall not be discussed.

Too bad about the spammer and not a mod in sight, we should be able to ban people.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 02:01 AM
Suit yourself. You know that just makes me more curious, though.

But yeah, if normal users were able to ban people then we'd have anarchy.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 02:02 AM
Only certain "normal users", like you and I...heh heh.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 02:14 AM
Hehe, well you know if they ever really needed it then they'd consider it.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 02:17 AM
An honorary Mod login for certain members to use when there aren't any Mods online and there's some spam to clean up.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 02:19 AM
I still reckon that'd have its fair share of problems, especially if it was open to anyone. If it's limited to a certain person or number of persons, there's bound to be some sort of competition and resentment involved.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 02:26 AM
I know, I'm not thinking it's a feasible option or anything. I'd ban everyone and change posts, basically what you described earlier, a sort of mofo-anarchy.

By the way, that 30 minute version of Dazed and Confused is from The Song Remains the Same, and it's 27 minutes. At least I think that's the one you were referring to.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 02:27 AM
As in the movie The Song Remains The Same? Must investigate further.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 02:31 AM
There's the movie and a double album, I have both but can't remember how long it is on the DVD. The album has it though so I'm betting it's on the DVD as well, in its entirety.

Iroquois
07-10-09, 02:33 AM
I should hope so.

Harry Lime
07-10-09, 02:43 AM
I'd check but I'm watching Seinfeld Season 7 right now.
