Okay, this looks genuinely creepy to me. I'm convinced, from this trailer alone (completely putting Insomnia aside) that Robin Williams CAN play a scary bastard. The budget is relatively small (under $10 million), and the film comes to us courtesy of Fox Searchlight, a branch of Fox that finds and promotes, I believe, lower-budget films like this one, or like, say, Super Troopers.

Anyway, give it a look...the concept sounds mildly dumb, but if the trailer is any indication, the execution is superb.

It's a dumb concept, until you think about it.
And I agree, the trailer itself is well executed, let's hope it's a nice indicator for the film will be like. When Williams is in the department store [looks like it anyhow] and tells the guy that he has a beautiful family or whatever...

Come on!!
We should be watching these people!!
Why didn't we think of the powers these bastards have earlier.

I wait in antici....

...pation.

Excuse this erratic bumping, but I was recently thinking of this fantastically overlooked film and just checked to see if there was a thread on it. Even now in 2014, this does not get the recognition it deserves, whether it be from Romanek's impressive direction or Williams' nuanced and highly accomplished performance.

Yeah, definitely one I'll have to see again.

Been a long time since seeing this one. I recall it being decent but nothing great.

Williams definitely shows his acting skills in this one.
Definitely his most underrated performance. I didn't recognise him at all the first time I saw the film.

The film itself almost didn't work, so yeah, I'd agree that it wasn't super special but it's definitely worth a watch.

I've heard stories that off set and between scenes, Williams actually acted even more nutty than usual because of the fact that he couldn't do zany stuff while the cameras were running.
Almost as if it was building up inside him, then when they shouted cut, he could then let it all out.

Finished here. It's been fun.
Very underrated film, extremely overlooked and i honestly can't understand why.

I think so too. I really liked that I was so sympathetic to Robin Williams character while being utterly creeped out by him at the same time.
