Movies where women die?

we had a talk about how most movies its the men being hurt and killed. what movies do more women die then men? (and I dont mean movies where just one person dies ect)

only ones that were came up with was;

Interveiw with a vampire
and

Are you for real? Almost all horror films are based around women being victims; take any slasher film. Women are frequently the target of weak male killers, with phallic weapons and are frequently objects of the male gaze. Most of the horror genre is based around it. Not thought of Dracula? Pretty sexualised he is and you mention Interview with the Vampire, which ironically is pretty homo-erotic take on vampires.

Well, I dunno. It depends on how you add them up. With Psycho, they mention his mother's death, and her lover's death. In the end, they mention about some 'missing persons' reports. As far as deaths that we actually see, there is Marion Crane, and then Arbogast. So the murders that we actually get to view, are split even. One each.

Then, do you eliminate the actual killer's, vampire's, etc . . . deaths. If so, in certain slasher horror films, like with the Friday the 13th series, it is not all women, or mostly women. With the first one, not counting good olé mom, you have five guys, and four girls. Then the guys win it, six to four, in part two.

Vampire movies? Well, with The Lost Boys, not counting vampire deaths (They're all guys, anyway), you have roughly six to one, for the guys. Then, with Fright Night, bad people not counting (Again men), you have two women being killed, to the one guy. The movie Vampires is no contest. Between all the monks, and the two to three Catholic preachers, the men win, easy.

Keeping in mind that he/she probably hasn't heard of half of what Mark listed, I can understand the question. I didn't know about five of them, myself.

Sure, there are numerous movies to cover, and I am sure many have women being killed more-so than men, but I feel pretty sure that the men are quite a bit in the lead.

You guys remember the women instead of the men, because the women are usually naked when they die.

oh come one .. we get raped and killed all the time .. don't forget cancer!

Now if you wanta talk about movies in which I was glad the witch finally died, Steel Magnolias and Love Story are at the top of my list. Plus Dustin Hoffman should of pushed the big-shouldered daughter under the bus and kept up the affair with her yummy mom in The Graduate.

You're barking in the wrong forum with your "you know nothing" comment… because 99.9% of the members who answered your thread are extremely knowledgeable about films…

Anyway, out of curiosity, why are you interested in films where women die? Personally, I find the news depressing enough without having it repeated on film…

My wife and I are not trying to turn this into a fight or anything. We just got onto the topic because most movies do show mainly men being killed. and we were wondering what movies went against the "social norm" so to speak.

I know women get raped and killed in movies, we are not stating at all that women never have anything bad happen to them...Make no mistake at all on that one.

It is hard to find movies now-a-days where people are NOT killed, and it seems like every movie put out has more and more "shock factor" put into it. So as such, we just wanted some help on finding movies where the table are turned so to speak.

that statement should be made about ANYONE being killed in a movie not just women. I will agree that the average person is now desensitized to violence via movies and games, but one must agree that we are more desensitized to men being killed than a woman.

I could make a joke, but I won't.

Anyway, yes, and the one thing you rarely see, loads less than the women even, are children being killed. That is very rare, and thank God it is. They can keep that out, for good and ever. I think we normally see that in either suspense thrillers, and/or true stories. I have one that I can think of, that is not a true story, but it is a thriller. It is When a Stranger Calls. The original, of course. Again, movies like this are just rare. Oddly enough, this really never happens in a slasher type film. You've had a couple of children that were killers . . . Michael Myers, and his niece Jamie Myers, but not children actually being killed.
Well, I've beat this topic enough. That, and I think I was the only one who really wanted to gab this subject to death. Horror is my favorite genre, you see. Followed by Sci-Fi. I run these movies like they are going out of style.
Now that I think of it, I'm not even sure you meant for this to go into a horror, and slasher type topic. Oops!

Oh, I almost forgot to add . . . I HATE most of today's horror, and slasher films. Movies like Saw, Hostile, etc . . . I won't watch them, so I can't give an accurate count on the deaths, and so on.

...this also kinda sounds like a man/woman discussion (can of worms) that could could apply to alot of different areas. My husband and I can also get into these types of discussions sometimes. For instance, why is it that women are generally seen naked more often then men on the screen? (Although, yes I know, times are changing...still, there's no way the naked men vs women quota will ever be equal ) Why are there more male actors active in there 50s, 60s and 70s than women (yes I know there's less oppportunity, but why?) Why are older men paired up more often with younger women than older women with younger men (yes, I know it's been done with older women, but comparatively, no where near as much).? There are a bunch of other worms relating to gender I'm sure (never thought of your twist though...too depressing for me)....but I'm running late and hafta go.

Very smart, Anika. I have had these chats, as well. Women are naked soooo much more often than men. It's like we have to sell ourselves, to get anywhere.
Then of course, men seem to be tough enough, strong enough, for many more years than women. Look at the newest sequels. From Sly, Harrison, Bruce, and now Clint . . . the oldest one of the bunch. Mind you, they aren't "that" tough, for real. I could take a couple of them. The movies just seem to be able to stretch the man's life, a whole lot longer than the woman's.
We can't be considered tough, once we are older, and we aren't as good to look at naked, to fit that specific attractive role. So the roles lesson, quite a lot.
As far as pairing up the couples, younger to older, it seems to work quite well for the men. It is sexy for a handsome, older man, to be paired with a gorgeous, young damsel in distress. There's not much of a call for young men, with older women. It doesn't happen a lot in real life, so it wouldn't be accepted in the movies. It's not sexy enough, for most roles/movies. That's my take on it. This is why so many of them/female actresses, do the plastic surgery. It's insane.
