I believe that Cool Hand Luke is a highly regarded and well loved film around here at Movie Forums. Well, I've finally seen it, and I totally recommend it..

Luke gets sentenced to two years at a prison work farm in the deep south where, on the periphery of civilization, Luke starts out as "New Meat" but eventually becomes the messiah of the prison population due to his refusal to conform to his new life.

Cool Hand Luke reminded me of Jack Nicholson's Five Easy Pieces, as both films are about baby boomers who are rebelling against the system.
