You know what would have been a shocking review of Basic Instinct 2? If you had said that it was even remotely watchable, much less good. Telling us it's horrible is kinda like alerting us that water is wet. Most of us don't have to jump into the pool to figure that one out. We'll put this one in the "DUH" file.

Oh, well. You're the sucker that paid to see it.

Sucker.

agreed, i was actually trying to figure out why this man was so excited to see this film in the first place. it had " I SUCK, DON'T SEE ME" plastered all over it.....

Why does your avie and the main poster of this movie look like Anjelica Huston with blonde hair to me?

Well I for one think Anjelica is hot.......Who did not fawn over her in the Adams family?

Sorry a bit off track here.

Uh, I will probably not watch this movie ever unless I happen to catch it on cable in the future if I have nothing else better to do. I too liked the first movie, but this one seems a bit too......boring/lame to me. Oh and if you do buy the DVD of this movie we all know it is because you want to pause the nude David Morrissey scenes...but thats okay I have got a few Angelina Jolie movies that I have done this with.

Thursday Next's Avatar
I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
I'm considering going to see this just for the bizarre novelty of Stan Collymore being in it (Collymore in a movie - how dis that happen?). Since he apparently dies in the first few minutes it won't be necessary to stay for the whole film...

The People's Republic of Clogher
Ahhhh yes, Stanley Victor Collymore. Troubled ex-footballed and exponent of late night car park trysts with strangers.

This gag mightn't play well outside Blighty, but here goes:

I can remember him hosting a footie phone-in on the radio a few years ago and one card rang up to say that Sven should pick Collymore for the England squad for the next championship.

Stanley glowed with smug pride until the caller was allowed to finish his sentence - Because you're good at beating Swedes...

All good people are asleep and dreaming.
The original completely sucked too!

Sharon Stone spreads her legs for a mila-second and all these 40 year old virgins get excited.

The acting was so bad, my girlfriend and I were laughing at the end.

The only part I really enjoyed about BI2 was the opening car sex and opening scene. Besides that, the movie sucked big time.

As for the original, it goes under my fave films of all time.

earns #1 as this years worst movie and possible the worst sequel ever
really terrible and dont let nobody tell you different
exactly wat i thought it would be

Second, the whole plot of the story was bor-whore-whore-ring! Emphasis on the whore's because of Sharon Stone, whose character, Catherine Tramell, is just an evil slut who seems like she learned how to talk dirty by obsessively watching Sex and the City. She is like Samantha Jones gone all psycho killer!

And by the way, the death scenes are nothing like the original. We never see some woman stabbing people to death with an ice pick. The ice pick is totally out of the story, which is okay because that was used in a previous book by Catherine Tramell (she's a writer who gets her "inspiration" for books from the murders that are always happening around her). She has to "come up with new ways to kill people" as she says in the movie, Basic Instinct 2.

The movie revolves around a male psychiatrist named Dr. Glass who evaluates Tramell after she's survived a car crash where her passenger, a famous soccer player, drowned when the car fell into deep water. Tramell was driving and getting fingered (no nudity seen) by the soccer star while driving 110 mph. Tramell gets off (yet again) when she's deemed innocent, and then she's back in Dr. Glass' life as a patient for awhile. Like her character in the first movie, she knows all about the leading man's life, his dirty secrets, and she's linked to all of his friends, even his ex-wife (apparently Tramell and her were "girl buddies" and Tramell also slept with the ex's boyfriend).

Like I said, it's not sexy, it's not like the original Basic Instinct except it uses some of Jerry Goldsmith's music a lot, the plot of the story is very boring and absurd... a man in Dr. Glass's care went psycho and killed his pregnant wife seven years ago, his name is Cheslav, everybody in the movie is CONSTANTLY saying "Cheslav"... Cheslav, Cheslav, Cheslav! Seriously, I thought I was watching Beetlejuice or Candyman, but Cheslav never appeared! Not even in a picture! We are forced to hear so much about this man, but who the f*** cares?!

Don't see Basic Instinct 2. Stay at home and lose risk addiction (the mental condition that Dr. Glass says Tramell has) because seeing this movie is a risk! I'm a fan of the first movie, which felt more like it was dealing with... basic instincts! This film deals with obsession, creating problems with your mind (and your movie, too, apparently), but mostly it deals with that invisible man, Cheslav! Stone's character talks dirty (more explicit stuff than her dialog in the first film) but hardly puts out! Dr. Glass comes over to her house, but she closes the door on him because he stole "her friend's insulin" (which was in a hypodermic needle, the new, but never seen used, ice pick) ! Her only sex scene with the shrink didn't even happen on his couch, which I thought would have been more right for Basic Instinct 2. No, it happens in her dungeon of a house, is very short indeed, and involves a belt wrapped around Dr. Glass' throat, choking him (don't EVER try this at home).

I hearby declare Basic Instinct 2 completely criminally insane!
omg i just rented this movie...what a total let down...i wouldnt recommend this movie to my worst
enemy

lol does anyone actually need to watch this movie to know it sucked? i mean, come on, its basic instinct...2. you know it sucks. just walk away. just walk away.

Hehehe, I agree it sucked and not in a good way.

It was free for me. That's what I require of most films that I'm near certain will be bad.

Some layers within the characters would have been nice. The guy was an absolute idiot to follow this know nutbag bitch into a trap.

However it did have a sexy moment or two.

When he pulled his girl friend's hair for instance was pretty hot.

When he was drowning the evil bitch was pretty hot too. I just don't know why he stopped. It could have been a much better film if he had killed her.

It could have been a much better film sooooo many ways.

Oh well.

WOW. You find all the violent stuff hot. OK. A lot of people would think that's sick, but really, that's what the Basic Instinct films aim for. Sadomasochism, sex that looks like rape, hair pulling, etc. I never thought the forced near-drowning of Catherine would be found hot to people...

But the point is you can't kill Catherine, even though you want to. The point is to see this woman grab all the men by the nuts and have her way with them. It's about female power. Catherine is both a psycho and a genius. She saved herself by smiling at him under the water.
Hey, I take the good parts as I see 'em. *L*

That's absolutely true she did save herself by smiling at him under the water. I've done that sort thing before with violent people in RL and I know just how it feels.

However I found her constant superior smiling just made me want to kill her even more. It's a good thing there was no one like me in that movie or she would have been a goner.

LOL!

IMHO, female power doesn't have to be about being a psycho bitch. I find that offensive. In fact I find arrogance in males and females, on screen and RL to be highly offensive if there is nothing else in a personality to offset it.

As far as sadomasochism goes, I used to think it was sick too. Now I accept that between two consenting adults it's all good as long as no one gets "broken" so to speak.

I'd love to see a movie or a book that was well written in which this element existed and there was no nut job killer running the engine for it!

Clearly it fascinates many but few understand what really makes it work. It would be refreshing to see anything that did.

The closest I've seen so far is Secretary. It certainly wasn't perfect either but that's another thread I suppose.

Basic instinct 2 to me lacks the cinematography and stylishness of the first film, it strikes me whenever i see it how paul verhoeven starts a scene with outside view of san fransisco for example the where they visit catherine tramell at divisadero , the cam pans from out to in on the top of the house, what caught me aswell is the wonderful erie score of jerry goldsmith, it gives it that classic film noir feel,
Another example is the crime scene of IA Marty when the camera moves in on the car to reveal the dead body shot in the head with erie music, amazing stuff,i don t think any sequel will top the original film
