As I stated above. Acting is a big thing with me, if the performances are bad, then, there is no way I can tolerate it for long.

The script, was there one? I mean, come on, they clearly didn't give the story/development much thought.

It just failed to hold my attention, and when seeing a film at the cinema, thats a must. At least at home I could turn it off, but I dont leave the cinema till the films finished.

Messenger from Hades' Gate
Underworld didn't disapoint me as badly as The Order did (I spent all summer waiting for that movie to come out too!). I really didn't expect a spectacular acting job from anyone, just a nice visual experience (kinda like the Tim Burton Batman movies. . . you go for the looks, not believability!)

Redirecting this thread back to the second installment, I think a second movie has the potential to be a really GREAT movie (or a real dud if they put no thought into it!). I hope they don't abandon the idea of "visual candy", but I would push for a better plot in this one. Also, I hope things don't get too sappy ("Why can't we all just get along?" sappy Kate must not ask this sappy question or any form of it!).

Above all: Keep Kate in that tight leather! Meow!

What I meant was what about his performance did you find bad.

Bill Nighy was absolutly, over-the-top, dramatically awful, at times it was unbearable to watch him. He just couldn't act the part, he may be good in something else, I don't know, haven't seen him in anything (knowingly), but seeing him in Underworld, I don't think I want to see him in anything else.

Saw Underworld 2 trailer today. Looked good to me and Kate Beckinsale in black latex looks realllllly good.

I thought the first Underworld should have focused more on Kate. Hopefully this one will.

Yeah, I agree. The trailer did look pretty good.

Though I still liked the first one, the character development beween Beckinsale and Scott Speedman was horrible. One minute they distrust each other, the next minute their in love.

The first Underworld was AWFUL. I mean just dreadful. An entire movie about vampires where not one of them does anything remotely vampiric. I mean they are never shown drinking blood and you can SEE them in mirrors, so we just have to take it on faith that they are in fact vampires and not just spoiled goth kids. lol. Horrid movie, but soooo many people I know loved it, so of course they made a sequel to it. You know a movie is bad when Uwe Boll (probably the single worst director since Ed Wood) criticizes it. lol.

This definitely makes me happy. Always thought the first one was underrated. Not a great movie, but a lot of fun. Definitely looking forward to this one. Gonna haveta T9 text(Fast Texting) my friends to let them know. They'll be about as excited as me. Well......maybe not as much

I just saw the trailer for Underworld 2 and thought it was pretty good, but then I remembered how much I liked the trailer for the first movie which ended up sucking the wrong end of a cigarette. I'll probably have to wait for the reviews on this one instead of going opening night(what I did for the first Underworld) and wanting to drown myself in the cup of Coca Cola I purchased for eight dollars.

ha all over the world people get ripped off at the movie candy bar. Anyway about Underworld II I'm not sure about whether this should be made. How much did the first Underworld make? obviously enough to warrant a sequel but it wasn't even that good. K there was some cool music and fun scenes but I wouldn't have minded if I had never seen it.

I didn't like the first, probably won't like the second.

Loosely related to this thread, I've noticed that some people tend to be "tough critics" and others are easily entertained. I fall into the latter category. I go to a movie wanting to like it. I'm an easy date. A movie has to be pretty horrible to receive less than a 2/5 from me.

Another thread might be interesting...are you a tough critic or an easy date?

Life is too short and movies are too expensive to sit through crap. Really.

That brings up another point. I don't think movies are too expensive. I usually go to twilight shows for $6. Pop, popcorn and candy OTOH, is insanely expensive.

A movie theater is really in the pop and candy business. The movie is just to get you in to buy pop and candy.

BTW, I see most of my movies at a large casino. It has a nice theater but very few people see movies there. They're more interested in slot machines. When I saw Doom, I was the only person in the theater.

Round here it;s 10 dollars 25 to see a movie. that's pretty expensive. Thus I am selective what I see in theatres. DVD is only a four dollar rental, so I can sit through a few stinkers at home, sure.

Arresting your development
Wooooooooooo hooooooooooooooo!

I don't mean to come up in the behind of this thread and mess with the on going balance of a tone that hits this flick on the side of the face with the smack of a wet hand... but I enjoyed the first one and am very much looking forward to the second one.

Vampires fighting Werewolves, violence, chicks with guns and black leather... I'm there!

I'm with ya. Beckinsale is perfect even if there isn't a lot of neck biting. She's a great balance of cool beauty and slender danger.

I saw the original cut of part I and found it to be poorly edited and over the top, but, when the re-cut extended came out, I watched it and found myself totally digging the movie. Now I have seen it a few times and I can say it's a pretty damn good film, with the exception of the Craven character, who just can't seem to act...

I want to touch Kate on the bum, too...

I will see the second one in the theater, but as usual, I will see a low-dough show...
