Other than the possibility of Francis (I don't know him), I would say you need to dig deeper. Like in your pants!

haha. but my uncle frank is a great man, he was a command sgt major in the army and he saved my dad and several of his brothers from going off to war in korea! (if they had gone, there wouldn't be a me.) plus, he is a genius. he knows everything about everything. I hope to be even a third of the man he is when i get to his age.

i hate to diverge of the topic of slay's manhood but i feel like refering back to the topic for some strange reason

i think people should state why they have chosen a person as an idol
i just dont want to see any arguments break out over who is god and who isnt because i could definitely disagree with a few nominations

particularily with a few of the musical choices. how can you think dj Sasha is the trance master supreme, far from it. Satriani? hardly a rock god. im just thankful for his skills as a teacher and influence on some of my favourite guitarists. Dante? how has any one known him enough to look up to him as an idol?

i dont want to state any of my idols because i cant seem to find a person that is so right that i could live my life according to them, nor do i want them to be carved in stone as my idols.
but i will say of all those listed which ones are definitely people that i admire. Travolta!, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Lou Reed, Jimmy Page, Mozart, Kubrick, Freddie Mercury, Tim Burton, nebbit.....

As I stated in my post, I don't consider these people idols. As for whether or not Satriani, Dante, or anyone else is a valid person to look up to or admire, different people are touched by different things, and I don't recall using the words "Rock God" at any point. In regard to Satch, his music inspires me, and I think anyone would be hard pressed to come up with a reason exactly why certain music or artists connect with them in that special way music can. If you are stating Satriani doesn't have skill, I think there is a boatload of evidence to the contrary.

Re: Sasha I don't consider him a "Trance Master" wither, but the man can clearly mix. I have been spinning for many years and have heard enough terrible DJs, professional and not, to recognize he has skills. I personally don't fancy his selection of tracks, so I tend to not listen to him much, but a DJ who understands music theory, mixes musically, and flows right along is considered a good trance DJ in most circles. I think there are many "top" DJs (Oakenfold, Warren, Ralph) who produce bunk mixes (Dead spots, quick cuts, short mixes) and people eat them up. At least Sasha tries.

I tend to prefer Psy-trance myself, and have heard many "no-name" DJs who's sets were mind blowing experiences. Maybe whomever listed Sahsa had one of those experiences with him, and considers him an idol, or inspiring, or whatever for that reason.

Re: Dante

No one alive today "knew" Dante, except for how his works might have touched them. I have respect for him because he looked into that dark place inside and outside himself and expressed what he saw/felt in a way that moved me. I don't know why it did, it just did. If no one else understands that, fine, they don't need to.

I'm not old, you're just 12.
figured i'd explain why i chose who i chose. so:

Jack Black - Jack black is my favorite comedian, we have similar senses of humor, and he is also a big man, like myself, but he doesn't worry about his weight, ya know? (we're roughly about the same size) He has the kind of confidence that i would want for myself, and he makes me feel like i am okay just being myself. It's like in "School of Rock" he said, "I like to eat, is that a crime?" haha. Not advocating being fat, mind you, but seeing him has made me feel more comfortable about my own weight problems. (Plus his girlfriend is HOT, and that gives me hope. haha)

Tim Burton - Tim Burton is always who i have wanted to be since high school. he's a really cool outsider type who has an AMAZING sense of visual style and intense empathy for his characters.

Kevin Smith - Kevin smith is me, basically, a bored guy who used to work retail and hated it and eventually turned that dissatisfaction into a way out. He had movies, i have my art, we are very similar people.

I don’t really idolize people… but one person I have always felt the utmost admiration for is Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu ~aka~ Mother Teresa… and I think the statement she made in 1979 when she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize pretty much explains why…

"I choose the poverty of our poor people. But I am grateful to receive (the Nobel) in the name of the hungry, the naked, the homeless, of the crippled, of the blind, of the lepers, of all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared-for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone." ~ Mother Teresa

My idol is Quentin Tarantino. i think he is one of the greatest directo/writers and one day i want to be a movie director.
I also idolize John Carpentur for making the greatest horror movie ever made.
