A few of my favorite sad movies are
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: I almost cried when I saw this movie because it really hits home once you think about it. Most people who have ever really been in love have wanted to kill their spouse or will say things like "I wish we never met" so this film brought those thoughts to reality...plus Jim Carrey did an amazing job with Joel
- Closer: By far in my top 3 favorite films of all time. I don't think I've ever seen a mainstream film that relates to what it's really like to be in a relationship so well. On many levels I can relate with all of the characters (except greedy ass Jude Law) which makes it more powerful. If you haven't seen Closer, I really suggest that you do. Heh, and now everytime I hear "The Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice I just want to break down into tears.
and to keep it short, my last pick is
Harold and Maude: If you haven't seen this, you fail. If you've seen this and didn't like it, you fail. Harold and Maude is extremely sad...but it's funny and really morbid for it's time and I think it was really innovative and could be used as a map for future film makers.
