War of the Worlds and I loved it

Saw War of the Worlds and Mr. & Mrs. Smith yesterday. I really enjoyed the heck out of one of 'em.

And it wasn't Spielberg's.

Actually I just watched War of the Worlds last night. I think its a great movie. I never saw the original. Though I had been waiting to watch this one as it looked really good. But to answer you all, no I'm still not interested in watching Batman. I didn't like any of the previous batman's so I don't see how this one would do it for me. I'm normally not into comic movies, though I do watch them all. I have found recent ones are really good like both X-Men, both Spiderman, Punisher, etc. Though I really didn't like hellboy or the hulk x.x

well it had a little more of a storyline going for it...speilberg's was disaster after disaster (got a little boring after a while, i was starting to think, okay what's going to happen next) also the machines were kind of different (even tho speilberg's were closer to the book)

and of course gene barry beats the hell of tom cruise's acting

and it's also hard to get away from a film that you grew up with all these years....

but i enjoyed the special effects and the music...speilberg did a fine job with the material he was given

War of the Worlds

I was disappointed by the end (never read the book), but really liked it, overall.

Ditto.

War Of the Worlds sucked. An hour and half into the movie, all that happened was the father-and-offspring alien chase. That's all. You could admire Tom's character's tenacity though.

Which is what made the film good. Why are people having trouble seeing that? If they had gone away from the PoV story, the film would have just turned into another Day After Tomorrow (now THAT is a bad film) or ID4 (I like ID4, but it is ****). I mean really, what were you hoping for? Another shot of the White House or Big Ben blowing up? YAWN. I guess character development is something people frown on these days, because all those other films have none, none at all. Zero. This film actually had character development, and wasn't just about the aliens or their gear. Quite refreshing. The film crew stuck to the classic material written by HG Wells, so what it comes down to is that you folks just don't like the story of War of the Worlds. Which is fine, but busting on a film that adhered strictly to the material it was drawn from makes little sense.

Jump over to the WoW thread and read some of the stuff Slay has been posting, it is quite interesting.

So, does anyone have any complaints that aren't directly related to how the narrative plays out (IE exactly like Wells story)? I have yet to hear any.

Support what now? Batman Begins has nothing to do with the old films, in any way. Also, 50 more? Sorry, but there were only an additional three, with only two more actors playing the character, for a grand total of three actors for that franchise. I agree that they should have called it when Burton left the franchise. But, to never touch on the character again, when there are virtually limitless stories to be told, is ridiculous. This film is nothing like the old ones, and they really nailed it this time. But, why not just join the ranks of lemmings that pass judgement on something before they know ANYTHING about it at all. Seems to be the fad these days. Oh well, stictly their loss, and a big one at that.

Being assumptive is cool! Why experience anything when one can just guess and assume!

I love this world.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will try to watch things and take them for what they are, waiting until we actually know something about the film before passing judgement. Oh, I know, that seems weird, as it's much easier to just proclaim something sucks and move on to the next item. There is a ton of stuff that needs ragging on, why waste time actually finding anything out about the stuff?

I just heard Clint Eastwood is going to do an Iwo Jima film. Wait a minute, I already saw a war movie one time, this film is gonna suck!! What?? No rampaging AI controlled stealth fighters in the film?? What a rip off!!! Yup, I can tell already, they don't even need to shoot this pile, it's gonna suck!!!

Artoo, activate sarcasm fields.

And another thing!!!

It's couldn't care less....couldn't, get it? If you could care less, than you care about it.

Cheers,

Captain bad mood today, and yes I did a quadruple post!!! Sue me.

War of the Worlds. AWESOME!!!!
