Why is the internet so toxic?

Oh sure... but actual media-news outlets, panic-mongerers and bullsh*tters, I steer clear away from.
I know about wokeness and all that, and the stirs caused by race-lifting and sex-lifting characters etc... and I know there's obviously a push and pull in social media about it all, but I don't watch, listen, hear, or pay attention to any of it, nor the panic mongering or sensationalisation of such subjects.
If its a subject that catches my attention, I study it, and I make my own mind up.

Conjecture and agendas, have no impact on me, because I ignore them, or even aggressively block them, even report them as offensive on the very short list of social media platforms that I actually use to make sure they never pop up again.
I have a no BS policy on my profiles.
I have absolutely no interest in any of that crap... and if any of it does leak in... it's blocked or reported to make sure it never shows up again.

I like what I like.
I know what I know.
I have no time for BS.

That's mad. Presumably you work from home then and just lock yourself away 24 hours a day and order all your shopping to be delivered and don't go out to any pubs / restaurants / cinemas or anything then?

Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Agoraphobia, Paranoia, Alcoholism... all diagnosed.

Also a brain condition that could essentially paralyse, or even kill me at any time.

i have a theory: people who are perpetually online sit a lot, when you sit a lot you get hemorrhoids, and when you have hemorrhoids you act like an ass.

People who have haemorrhoids tend to be really nice people... it's the ones who pretend to have haemorrhoids are the ones to keep an eye out for.
