The trick is not minding
I always find the complaints over the films voted into the top 100 of “whatever” amusing.

I mean, I get it, somewhat. I get annoyed at Lucio Fulci being represented in the last top 100 horror film list (The Beyond).

So Thursday, John Dumbear, Wyldesyde, and me. I knew all those. Who are the other two?!
I had Quills at 12 - Great film

My list so far:

9. Monsters, Inc.
10. Juno
11. Catch Me If You Can
12. Quills

I like Quills a lot, I considered it for my list. Geoffrey Rush's performance is very impressive. I'm not a huge fan of the Marquis de Sade as a philosopher, but he's fascinating as a person and the film shows the fascinating aspect very well.

Ocean's Eleven is an ok movie, kind of entertaining, but nothing special for me.

I know. There should be at least three Fulcis on that list

Seen Quills twice and it would make my top 50.

I hardly remember Ocean's 11. I am surprised to see it just because it's so well known yet I don't see much talk about it here.

Trivia

Ocean's Eleven

Did you know that...
  • George Clooney sent the script to Julia Roberts with a $20 bill attached and a note that read "I hear you're getting 20 a picture now"?
  • Johnny Depp and Mark Wahlberg were considered for the role of Linus? When Marky Mark decided to do Planet of the Apes instead, they gave the role to Matt Damon.
  • Luke/Owen Wilson and Joel/Ethan Coen were considered for the roles of the Malloy twins?
  • the Bellagio granted the cast and crew full access to the hotel and casino?
  • Rusty (Brad Pitt) is seen eating in all of his scenes?

Oceans 11 is another movie that I have actually not seen all the way through. The Raul hasn't seen trend continues! I figured I'd be around 70 percent seen but there's already 20 misses so probably somewhere around 60% instead.

Trivia

Quills

Did you know that...
  • costume designer Jacqueline West gave Kate Winslet a copy of French panter Léopold Boilly's Woman Ironing to give her a feel of her character? Winslet has said that the book greatly influenced her performance.
  • Paul Verhoeven was considered to direct the movie?
  • the wife of the Marquis de Sade is played by Geoffrey Rush's real-life wife, Jane Menelaus?
  • Hugh Jackman was considered for the role of Abbé de Coulmier, which eventually went to Joaquin Phoenix?
  • Phoenix, who is a strict vegan, refused to wear leather? The costume department accommodated him with special plastic or pleather wardrobe/shoes.

Trivia
[*] Hugh Jackman was considered for the role of Abbé de Coulmier, which eventually went to Joaquin Phoenix?
I don't think Quills would be my favorite movie if that had happened. Doubtful I would've seen it at all.

Hot.

I forgot the opening line.
68. Ocean's Eleven : I've seen 12 out of the last 13 films - and the only reason I'm mentioning that right now is because I haven't seen the film after this, which will ruin that record. Ocean's Eleven twice, and once fairly recently. It has a lot of dazzle on it's surface, and trades heavily on it's star power. A sense of being cool was essential, for this was following in the footsteps of the Rat Pack - a bunch of guys who prided themselves on being the coolest and hip around at the time. I guess George Clooney and Brad Pitt would have come to mind almost instantaneously - which just left the particulars of the casino heist to map out and deal with. Yeah, everything that pans out, including Danny Ocean's ex Tess (Julia Roberts) gets a pass mark from me. It's simply breezy entertainment - and you won't learn much about the human soul or meaning of life, except for the money part in that equation. Funny to think that these guys were probably walking away with that amount of money in real life (The film made $450 million at the box office.) I'm hoping we start to get some real cinematic masterpieces in the top 50.

67. Quills : I really have to see Quills - it's been bandied about a whole heap since I've been coming here, so it'd be nice to see what this fuss is about.

Seen 24/34

I really thought it wasn't that obvious. To those that guessed it, what gave it away?
In my excitement, I totally missed this earlier, but like raul said "marquee" and "asylum" were the big giveaways. I also figured "torture" was a hint towards Quills, but I actually assumed "theater" was another hint, since the best scene in the movie involves de Sade and the other inmates putting on a special play.

Don't know how or why Lucio Fulci got brought up, but he's certainly more interesting than Ocean's 11. I wouldn't mind seeing an early 80s era Fulci zombie Ocean's 11 style heist film that is riddled with plot holes.
