Not your first time viewing, I presume? Better bring a long straw for your milkshake.

This is my first and, to this day, only Paul Thomas Anderson movie, and if his other movies are even close to as good as this, then I really need to check them out.
See Boogie Nights as soon as possible.
EDIT: Looks like I was a little late with my advice.
I personally prefer the formalism and the epicness of There Will Be Blood to the stylishness and energy of Boogie Nights, and I don't think Boogie Nights is as good as There Will Be Blood, but it's still great. I have to rewatch both one of these days.

Magnolia,Punch-Drunk Love and The Master are all exceptional as well. The only PTA film that's only okay is Hard Eight.
Never thought of it that way. Need to revisit with this in mind.
The length is almost identical, the overall exuberant and energetic feel to the thing and the plot where we follow a 'family' of characters who believe they are stars within their own worlds, but the reality is dark and depressing. And the fancy camera work. PTA loves Scorsese and you can tell in a lot of his stuff (especially with camera work), I believe he listed Goodfellas in his top ten favourite films too.
Just watched Rush - always tough to rate these sorts of films as you can get caught up in the real story rather than how good the film is. Obviously it is a great story - inspiring to say the least and I think many people could end up rating that rather than the film in a film sense.
That being said - the film itself was great. Thought Hemsworth and Bruhl were really good in their respective roles of Hunt and Lauder and I liked the way they portrayed racing etc. I am not a huge fan of it myself but thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
A solid 8/10.

I know the guy is a huge fan, and I definitely see it in his camera movement. It would not surprise me that Goodfellas is one of his favorite movies.
