Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Juno

Meh, who cares about the Oscars anywhae aye...
Um...I've cared about them since 1964. Sure I'm fuc*ed up, but I can at least celebrate that once a year.

Just on a serious William Powell and Myrna Loy kick, most of these films are just so much fun to watch.

This is actually a part of the Thin Man boxed set...

Two pretty interesting Documentaries about both William and Myrna.

This was pretty fun.

This is probably the one I like the least out of the five films in this set. Still pretty good though.

Only slightly less amazing than Manhattan Melodrama and Double Wedding but just slightly.

For anyone that's interested these are all a part of this box set...

and are all quite good in their own ways, so if you like The Thin Man movies I highly recommend these as well.

Juno-
A very, very, very quirky film. Perhaps at times to quirky for it's own good. The first twenty minutes have so many lines that just make me want to gag. After that though it clears up somewhat and becomes enjoyable.

The rest of the movie seems fine and very genuine in most of the emotions and the cast does a wonderful job. J.K. Simmons is very funny as the dad and Ellen Page does a good job portraying Juno. Cera's also good here,But this movie would have benefited from showing a little more of the Juno-Bleeker relationship because at the end I wasn't feeling it as much as I should have.

The cinematography and the music was good. But, the soundtrack could have used a little more variety. After the fifth Kimya Dawson song you really start to get annoyed. Also, for a girl whose big in to punk they sure don't use any punk songs on the whole soundtrack.

Overall,an enjoyable flick that might be worth seeing again,But not Oscar worthy(Then again alot of the movies that are up for Oscar's aren't Oscar worthy.)Like someone said before it's the little indy flick that could. Sometimes that's a good thing(interesting storyline dynamics)and sometimes that's a bad thing(Vomit inducing dialog.).

Side-Note:I went to see this in a small theater and I must have been the only young adult male there. There were like three old couples and a group of young girls. Man, I felt like a fish out of water.

I am half agony, half hope.
The Enchanted Cottage

I'm being generous, but I like this film very much. Good dialogue, acting, and lovely music.

Am I alone in thinking that's it's pretty bizarre that Robert Altman directed this flick? I actually saw this in the theater many moons ago, and yes I still like it.

Also watched The Thin Man again, its just soooo good.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) 3˝/5

another Hollytorical instead of a Historical....

I saw that movie when i was very little, and watching it again it's still pretty awesome. It really does capture the feel of the original Popeye cartoon series perfectly.

I just watched:

Return of the Jedi - Movie comfort food at it's best.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip (Joe Layton, 1982)

This Pryor flick, which can never possibly compare to Richard Pryor Live in Concert, is still highly recommended. Not only did Haskell Wexler (!!) shoot it, but it contains archetypal Pryor footage. This is the film where Pryor reveals he will never use the "N-Word" again. He will swear up the yin-yang, but no more N-words, which were so important to his earlier act. Also, this film details Pryor's burning up. In that case, it may well be the flick which Powdered remembered. The other things which are highly memoarble here are that Meatbone made his final appearance and Jim Brown saved Rich's life, again.

This could also be called the Richard Pryor film where he weared a Red Suit!

Yep that's the one, all that LDS back in the sixties gets me confused sometimes...

I am half agony, half hope.
Citizen Kane

Third time I've watched it, and I'm starting to pick up on techniques like lighting and camera angles. It's a very cool film to analyze, with lots going on.
