There's a lot of De Niro love here. I assume you all mean for past work because the guy's been phoning it in for over a decade now.

1 Sean Penn

Probably the greatest actor working today. Everything he does now is an event.

2 Daniel Day Lewis

Ditto Day Lewis. Chooses his movies with care and I appreciate that.

3 Brad Pitt

Time and time again, Brad proves that he's not just a pretty boy. His work in The Assasination of Jesse James ... was magnificent.

4 Philip Seymour Hoffman

Watch him in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.

5 Martin Sheen

Wish he'd get more high-profile roles. I believe he can do anything.

6 Jim Carrey

When he's invested in the material, his natural talent shines.

Underrated: Don Cheadle. Watch his eyes. Feel the emotions leech out of him.

It's all in the reflexes.
My Current Favourite Actors are:

5). Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
I know I know, but he has so much charisma, and i just watched Walking Tall which made me feel good.
4). Benicio Del Toro
Same thing, saw Sin City recently. Jackie Boy!
3). Christopher Walken
Awesome accent and very versatile, I would love to see him in another horror film.
2). Denzel Washington
Will always be in my top 5, The Hurricane is my favourite film numero uno.
1). Robert Downey Jr
Dug himself out of a hole which i admire him for, and is very funny. I am also eagerly awaiting Iron Man 2

1. Johnny Depp - just brilliant in all the things he do
2. Tom Hanks - exudes all characters he portray
3. Gary Oldman - makes you believe in the character he's portraying
4. Jim Carrey - FUNNY. his voice sums it all up.
5. Ben Stiller - creative.

there are a lot but these are the first 5 that came to mind.

Kenny, don't paint your sister.
I don't hear Gary Oldman's name too much. He is a terrific actor, though. He was outstanding in Air Force One. (Surprising I brought a Harrison Ford movie into this )
