Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Seems more like a popularity contest these days.

Suspect's Reviews

I would have to makeup an entirely new word to properly convey how uninterested I am in the Grammys. The last year I watched, "Smooth" won for Song of the Year.

In the Beginning...
Is it just me, or is Beyonce's solo stuff terribly bland? I actually used to like some of the fresh and funky music Destiny's Child turned out before they split up. Now Beyonce is just a color-by-numbers R&B artist with a killer voice. We've had plenty of those.

I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was the absolute worst part of the show. Nothing looked 3-D to me! Other people said they saw the 3-D and liked it, but I was totally unimpressed -- and I'm sick to death of that "Earth Song"!

I agree. I was hoping like Michael would look 3-D from an image somehere like he was on stage with them or something. All i saw was 'one' flower in 3-D for 2 seconds l0l. It was nice to hear them sing with Michael "sort of) but other than that it was kinda retarded.

I gain a whole new respect for the Grammy's now that I know they give out an award for "Album Notes".

Frankly, these three awards by themselves - almost - make up for the entire monstrosity that is the Grammy Awards. They of course fall at the final hurdle because there is no saving award shows; the histrionic, self-aggrandizing, self-congratulatory nonsense the accompanies all of them is just too much for anyone to bear.

Hey, why didn't that stupid Britteny Spears song Womanizer get any awards? I really don't like her, but one of my friends made me listen to it...yeah...it was stuck in my head for weeks...

If you dont like her why would you want her to win.

Because it was really really really catchy and they had a very attractive guy in the music video...plus I would almost rather Spears win instead of Taylor Swift...

I'm with darkrose on this one. But, as I've no time for most of the music represented at the Grammy's this year, I guess it doesn't really matter.

More to the point, did you see how bad many of them looked? Holy crap. Those that looked good were wearing something hideous and those that were dressed well otherwise didn't look too good. Actually, Swift was one of the few who managed to look good and dress well.
