The film has some home video segments throughout and during the credits we get to meet the real Micky Ward and Dicky Eckland, which is even more reason to appreciate Bale's performance.
Dicky is played amazingly by Bale and is the most tragically flawed character in a film that is full of very flawed people.

Christian Bale is the real star of this movie (and rightly deserved his Oscar), as Micky's half-brother, Dicky.
