Let me count the ways The film achieves a rare feat amongst films in the science fiction and fantasy genres; it creates and transports us to a fantastical world we've never encountered before, while at the same time giving us a world that feels real.

here's not much going on here. I also think many of the characters aren't really that fleshed out. People sort of move about like action figures. But there's resonance and deep emotion, here. Profound wisdom and life lessons..
Citizen Rules
Harryhausen knew how to take his stop-motion creatures and give them a personality of their own...I didn't feel a lot of personality coming from the creatures in this film though.
