What Charities do you give to?

In Soviet America, you sue MPAA!
The Tsunami Relief fund made me think of this and I'm just curious as to what charities, if any, posters donate to?

I'll be honest and admit that this year was the first year I ever gave to a charity. I gave money to Child's Play , a charity run by Penny Arcade. It wasn't much, but I felt good knowing some kid in the Washington DC Children's Hospital can have fun playing a game because of me. I know charity isn't about the giver, but I'm not going to lie that it wasn't a good feeling.

In the future I plan on giving to several environmental agencies, but honestly I'm not sure which ones.

I feel like Dan asking for charity advice in Sports Night....I need to just get in the game...

Randomly visiting for now
I give to the Chris Kringle charity in Australia every year. What you do is go to your local shopping centre and take a name and description of a homeless/poor child off the big christmas tree and you go out and buy a present for that child and leave it under that same tree. Then at christmas the child gets something.

Other than that I usually buy a poppy on rememberance day for the veterans. And whenever I get the chance I donate to the Salvation Army; which is an organization who works with people who have all sorts of problems, such as homelessness, drug addiction, abusive family members or just not enough money for christmas dinner.

It's not much but I feel better when I help people less fortunate than me.

I just know they're coming to kill me.
Hmmm... my mom donates clothes to the Purple Heart and I believe to other veterans and such. Would that be considered a charity? I pitch in my stuff too as well.

When I can, I give money to War Child.
I regularily give food to our local food bank
I have given clothes to the March of Dimes and the Salvation Army.
I have given bedding and blankets to the shelter my boyfriend works at.
I would like to give more and even adopt a child from a 3rd world someday. My budget is tight right now from school and being on a disability pension.

Salvation Army
Lion's Club
Local Food Pantry
Local Battered Women’s Shelter

And I used to support Ronald McDonald Charities until I discovered American Indians were excluded from receiving many of those charities - particularly college scholarships specifically earmarked for students from disadvantaged communities.
