Hello people of these fine film forums, I need help finding some of the scariest movies ever made in the horror genre. Pretty much my girlfriend wants to get spooked out. What are some of your go too's for some thrills and goosebumps? Thanks.

Only two films come to mind.
1. The Exorcist (1973) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070047/?ref_=nv_sr_1
2. Salem's Lot (1979) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079844/?ref_=nv_sr_1
I'll post more when I remember more that actually scared me.

Them (2006) also known as ils. The ones based on true stories are always the creepiest.

Evil Dead 1 and 2. There is a third one but not really in the same vein.
The Tingler, an old B&W film.
The Thing From Another World, B&W original.
Night of the Living Dead, B&W.
The 1980's was the decade of slasher movies:

Motel Hell.
The Mimic.
The Hostel. Not really spooky but real horror.

Pet sematary (1989) I spent most of the movie slouched in my theatre chair like I was about to disappear under it.
Psycho (1960) The first time I saw this as a kid and that skeleton turned around in the chair, my mind just about unhinged.
The shining (1980). Large, empty, old hotels are creepy to this day.
