Von Trier's Melancholia (2011)

Tools

"Von Trier is currently in Cannes promoting his new film Melancholia, which stars Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kiefer Sutherland and is debuting in competition. It is being pitched as a "psychological drama-cum-disaster-movie"... The director has promised it will be his first film not to feature a happy ending."

Must see this now. The IMDb plot synopsis is just hilariously intriguing:

Two sisters find their relationship challenged as a nearby planet threatens to collide into the Earth.

Who else did a double take at Kirsten Dunst's appearance?

I'm thinking his version of The Sacrifice continuing his "homage" "to" Tarkovsky. I am so pumped.

The trailer looks immense, definitely on priority list. His new '5 Obstructions' with Scorsese is also reaching top places.

I still haven't seen the original one, but plan to go through his filmography after a couple more Asian folk
