Daniel Craig Examined

Early Life

Daniel Craig was born in Chester but when his parents divorced in 1972 he moved to Liverpool with his older sister Lea where he grew up. After a number of school play roles and encouragement from his mother he applied to National Youth's Theatre. He was accepted and moved down to London at the age of 16.

In 1992 he married to a Scottish actress Fiona Loudon and they had a child named Ella in 1992. In the same year he made his first screen appearance in The Power of One. Then in 1994, he divorced from his wife.

Film Career

This is the second appearance for Daniel Craig as James Bond following in the footsteps of Pierce Brosnan and other former Bonds. There is some speculation that this may be his last Bond film for a while even so he is contracted to make a least another 3 James Bond movies. He is brought a seriousness to the James Bond role while maintaining the usual cocky humour. There were many that said they enjoyed Casino Royale but for them Daniel Craig can not be James Bond. After all he is blonde.

However, this is because the producers are trying to produce a more serious Bond which is more than an action film. Moreover, Daniel Craig has more muscles than all of the previous Bonds combined as shown right. This means he tends use brute strength rather than intelligence to defeat his enemies and save the world. Many cinema goers asked the question who is when he was chosen to play James Bond.

However, unlike his predecessors his has an impressive career already and most recently he appeared as Lord Aisrael in the Golden Compass. His impressive roles include the lead in the gritty crime thriller Layer Cake where he stars alongside the gorgeous Sienna Miller. While he has a number of former roles that also means he has recently turned 40 with his best years ahead of him.

Awards

He won one of the most worthless but nicest to have awards. He was voted as Esquire's best dressed male in 2006 following his appearance in Casino Royale. He was also voted 7th sexiest man in the world in Elle magazine in June 2007.He won Best Actor as the Empire awards for his performance in Casino Royale. While be nominating for and winning a host of other awards he is yet to win a BAFTA or even be nominated for an Oscar though he is still young and learning his trade.

Interesting Points

A sign of the times is that Daniel Craig is the first James Bond to be born after the first Bond film and the death of Ian Fleming the other of the books. He quit smoking before the making of Casino Royale.Even though he is 5ft 10in he is still the shortest to play James Bond and the only to be blonde. Finally, after moving to Liverpool he has continued to be a strong Liverpool F C fan.

He's also got a really small head.

Becoming a joyless Billy Big Bollocks since taking over what is, in effect, a lavish B Movie franchise is less than seemly. Like the above photo, it's small-minded.

Arf!

lol

Then noticed that before. Might just be that he has a big body rather than a small head.

Yea i liked him before I knew he supported Liverpool and now I do not think I can.

No doubt he'll be saying "It's the pictures that got small!" in a few years time, then.

I don't think Craig's a bad actor at all, really. Quite good, in fact.

Hopefully being Bond won't typecast him too badly.

I think he's a fairly decent actor... but I don't see him as the 7th sexiest man at all...

As Bonds go, he's one of the better ones.

That's a 'world's tallest dwarf' kinda comment, I know.

Not sure he is inkeeping entirely the Bond persona but he is the best one of the best actors to have played the role.

Not that sexy really..has a nice toned body and is a reasonable actor

but forgot to say if he supports Liverpool then I do reeeeeeally love him!

Nice post!!

I like Daniel Craig. He is amazing as Bond and he was also in Layer Cake. He has been in some films that doesnt interest me but he is a good actor. Really looking forward to the new bond movie.

to me, casino royale was a great movie but i just can't see it as a BOND movie. im trying but just the whole story with M and the way that they made this movie grittier, im having a hard time with it.

The depth that he brought to Bond was terrific. He may not have the look of Connery (hell, who does?) but he definitely caries the bravado and attitude
