I bought it on your recommendation, kid, so it had better be good!

Also, with the price being little more than a rental, it was a hard one to turn down. That said, while it appears to be a genuine release, I'm not gonna vouch for the disc's actual quality until I watch it - probably on Christmas Day judging by the seller's 'You may have to wait up to 21 business days for delivery' email.

Is he planning a Palin-style travelogue across the globe to post it personally?

I thought it was pretty good. Too much melodrama took a few points off for my girlfriend and I. I am thinking Taccy will find the same issues with the film, from what i have seen of his taste for this sort of thing. Just a couple of directorial missteps in an otherwise powerful film. It is totally worth seeing, though.

Meanwhile:

Well, this has just arrived in the mail and looks genuine enough - it came without box (which aroused suspicion at the time) but included the DVD sleeve. Quality, a quick look true, seems fine. Commentary and DTS track too.

I don't know if I agree with you or not. They're both so good. One the one hand, the writing on BSG is very real, believable, and well-developed. But on the other hand, Firefly's got some of the most timeless, heart-sticking episodes around.

Crap. I guess I'll have to agree, because the production value and quality of BSG beats out Firefly's short run. But if Firefly had stayed on the air, who knows....

So who's buying War of the Worlds next week?

I See You When You're Sleeping
I last bought Politics - Ricky Gervais Extremely funny stand up!

I have to get both of the Peep Show series. I've only seen a handful od episodes but it's really unique and instantly entertaining.

Oh, I will be picking a copy up.

I feel the same about Firefly in some ways. For instance, the episode "Out of Gas" is, as you said, a timeless , wonderful piece of sci-fi writing. Then again, so is BSGs "Flesh and Bone". Meanwhile, if we are having trouble deciding which sci-fi show is the best, times are good for sci-fi....

Got some DVDs, but we didn't buy them. Where do we list DVDs we don't actually buy?

Blow (Demme, 2001)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Burton, 2005)

It was my girlfriend's birthday, and they were given to us as gifts.
