Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
I've just noticed that I'm the only person who voted for Documentary Short. It wasn't on the original list of noms on Page 1.

The nominess are:

Freehold
La Corona (The Crown)
Salim Baba
Sari's Mother

Try to edit those into your picks.

P.S. I have everyone who filled out a ballot included in the Oscar Picks Game I run at my house each year, so my daughter will be keeping score.

If i saw this thread earlier i woulda included my picks...but i kept track of my picks with a thing that came with my newspaper and i got 12 right :P

Only got fourteen right, but I was very happy with just about every single award.

14 out of 20 here (I missed even making a prediction for a few); Bourne killed me pretty badly. Went 7 of 8 for the big categories (you can probably guess which one I missed there), though.

I am having a nervous breakdance
Was there no Honorary Award this year?

I didn't make any picks, but like Holden, fairly happy with most.
I am disappointed Cate Blanchett didn't recieve any awards, but Australia still picked up one award:

DOCUMENTARY FEATURE
No End in Sight
Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience
Sicko
Taxi to the Dark Side
War/Dance

Taxi to the Dark Side was awarded best documentary, the award was recieved by Eva Orner, from Melbourne, Australia.
May I offer my congratulations, and indeed the congratulations of all the Australians on this forum to Eva for a great job.

Oh. And, congratulations to all other award recipients.

I mentioned this in the Shoutbox, but Jon Stewart was a total waste. They could of picked somebody else to host the show. He wasn't funny, he was cocky, and nobody even barely laughed. He could save all his crap for his show, let somebody who knows how to host the Oscars come back next year.

I think Jason is exaggerating a little (plenty of people laughed, for example), but I was unimpressed by Stewart, too. I like him in general, and think he's very talented, but something just felt a bit off tonight. I realize a lot of the material was probably to blame, and the whole thing was a bit rushed this year, but I daresay you could tell.

I'd grade the performance; his end, and the writing all mixed together, about a C-.

I thought Stewart was good, and he had some great lines. It was obviously less prepared than usual in that there were no pre-planned bits or taped segments, and I think that is very clearly due to the fact that they had only less than two weeks to plan and write it where they usually have four of five months plus. Given all that, I thought he did a great job. It was a crappy circumstance to be stuck in and he made the best of it.

I think the producers of The Oscars are going to be very pleased with what Jon was able to do, especially as they know better than anybody what the time crunch was like. He'll be back, assuming he wants the gig again. He'll be offered it, for sure.

I just know they're coming to kill me.
Yeah im not a fan either. Bring back Billy Crystal! Or Whoopee!
Agreed, to a certain extent.

I grew up watching Crystal host the Oscars, so it was always a blast seeing him host them. I would love to see the Academy bring him back for old times sake.

But, as for Stewart, I highly enjoyed his undertaking of hosting the show. Yes, we all know the writer's strike dampened the overall creation process, but given the amount of time they had, Stewart delivered. And he was able to think up some good improv right on the spot, which I give him credit for as well.

I would like to see him host again.

Ah... so that's who that guy was... I missed his intro and forgot to look it up this morning.

As for Stewart, I thought he had some really good lines but also several that missed the mark... and considering the fact I normally think he's pretty funny, I just caulked it up to having "off material" to work with...

Did they have something going on in front of one of the podiums? I noticed several people almost slipped or acted like they did....

haha yeah Colin Farrell slipped and was like "woah that couldn't been bad" or something like that and "somebody should take care of that" then I think Travolta slid a bit. obviously it wasn't high priority, they probably wanted somebody to slip, cause i mean celebs falling down is pretty funny

A system of cells interlinked
I like J Stewart's hosting job just fine. I also really dug the whole intro to the Oscars, with all the film icons in the CGI bit. Fun. I thought the show had its peaks and valleys, as usual.
