You can't win an argument just by being right!
Time for some good news stories to try to blot out the crap in the world for a minute or two.

Christine, I think you'll find this interesting. Not news as in mainstream news media but I found it fascinating and quite frightening. Time line of the Syrian conflict. About 8 minutes.

Sorry I missed that Dani, interesting stuff!

Scariest experience I ever had was on a Chinese airline.
Mine was probably aerolineas (OMG I'm sure that plane was circa Falklands war and I got the same one back home believe it or not. Never again. I'm sure I saw satan riding on the wing) but china airlines from Tibet to beijing was pretty hair raising. I basically kissed my bottom goodbye. Thankfully I landed before it went up in flames.

Reminds one of the movie 'The towering inferno' .
The pictures are truly horrifying. What are these buildings made of that they were engulfed so fast? In Southern Europe, most modern buildings are made of concrete and solid brick. They don't seem to catch fire as often. In fact, it's so rare most people don't have either fire alarms or sprinklers. The London building didn't even seem to have fire escape. I have a feeling there will be far more than the 6 dead they are reporting. Horrendous!

I hate high rises and have always avoided top floors, even in hotels.

We've gone on holiday by mistake
Absolutely awful. It's being reported that building had faulty alarms, faulty sprinklers and residents had complained about it being a death trap 4 years ago.

Reports of parents throwing their children out if windows so they don't burn to death. As bad as it's gets.

Just what London and the UK needs right now.

57 I just saw. Terrible bushfire.

Over 62 confirmed dead and many more seriously hurt. People were burned in their cars as they tried to escape. Absolutely horrific. There are whole villages surrounded by fire. Very high temperatures, strong winds and dry thunderstorms turned this into very dangerous wildfires.

I know you probably can't read it but the pictures speak for themselves....

PS Dani, I don't think disasters are more than there used to be. What's changed is that now you hear about them much faster. In the beginning of the 20th century, if there was a flood in China that killed thousands, you'd hear about it maybe 4 months later. Now news flashes instantaneously around the world.

That is true. I've read lots of social history books and well before our time it would take at least 3 months to send a letter to Australia. Now everything is instant.

And there it goes again for London. The world has gone insane.
