In Soviet America, you sue MPAA!
I don't watch all of the featurettes on every disc, but never having listened to a commentary is unforgivable.

I had actually pretty much stopped exploring special features on DVDs all together. Slow loading times and poorly intuitive navigation just make it a chore. Makes a huge difference when you can search the menus, load features and set up playlists all while you're watching the movie.

The Adventure Starts Here!
I think part of the reason I don't get around to watching commentaries on DVDs is that I watch many of them via Netflix, and so, I tend to send back the disc as soon as I finish the movie in order to maximize the monthly fee.

I should, though, watch commentaries and special features on discs I actually own!

You ready? You look ready.
Oh yea OG-, I agree. That's why I'm amazed at just now nice the menus are for these discs. And that's the best part, you can do anything during the movie.

I've still got some Betamax tapes in a box. I was sad to see that format die.
Sorry I'm a bit on the run so I couldn't follow this whole thread... but word on the street is that Betamax was outdone by VHS only because the porn industry went with VHS tapes and therefore more consumers were accounting for the love of their porn collection, hence making one format (controversially named superior) obsolete.

Now thanks to the internet, I'm sure the same trend will no longer determine the fate of these two formats but something similar such as superior advertising, Film industry monopolization or hardware support for consumers may do so.

I have already seen my local blockbuster support both formats and the most innovative solution for hardware manufacturers would be a dual-support of both formats so people aren't postponing their transition to HD. My personal opinion is that both these technologies are very similar and there are certainly ways of unification without the emphasis on a single format. I would prefer for both of these formats to exist and advance.
