This is from 6 years ago and my personal favorite is winning. I feel like Beauty and the Beast better replicates the Disney spirit, even though the filmmaking quality and casting of The Lion King is slightly higher. The two are really even for me, but since I was certain The Lion King would win I voted Beauty and the Beast for raw Disney power.

Goodness gracious, Disney couldn't miss back then.

There are a few of my all time favourites in this list, but Lion King just tops it for me. Adore Beauty And The Beast and Aladdin was also one of my favourites growing up. There is just something really special about The Lion King, the music, animation, voice talent, visuals, direction, everything.

Really close call between Aladdin/Beauty/Lion King. For me those are the definitive Disney movies of the era.

The Guy Who Sees Movies
Definitely the Little Mermaid. Most Disney animations are good, but Mermaid had that song, Under The Sea, that periodically boils up out my brain at random moments and makes me feel good. It has to be one of the best Disney movie songs ever. I'm a sucker for cheerful, singing fish.

I'd say its a 3-way tie between The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. I didn't finish watching Pocahontas because it sucked so much and haven't seen a Disney movie since. My personal favorite was Beauty and the Beast but all 3 are true classics on the level with Robin Hood, The Jungle Book and Fantasia. I can still remember when my parents brought BatB home and we watched it with the family across the street, big dinner, two families, good times.

I'd say its a 3-way between The Little Mermaid, the Beast and Aladdin.

You, sir, disgust me!

Oh yeah and don't forget Bambi. We had Bambi on betamax and I remember being set in front of the big floor TV with wood paneling and watching it, think I was 3.

They didnt have big plastic boxes back then but heres a later edition.

There's no database for betamax cassettes so all I can offer is this picture of an old style TV to illustrate my early memories.

It was something like this with pillows and a blankie.
